There’s perhaps no destination as romantic as the Caribbean, where intimate island life affords days sinking into palm-lined beaches, followed by evenings spent lingering over long dinners under the stars.
With champagne-coloured sands and plenty of Caribbean charm, St. Kitts might just be the most romantic of them all. But there’s more to this quiet corner of the Caribbean than just sun, sea, sand and stars – this is an island ideal for reconnection, no matter what that looks like to you and your significant other.
What does this mean to you? Whether it’s sinking into a couples’ spa treatment or hiking lush rainforests, in-room dining or mountain-view meals (perhaps a combination of all?), St. Kitts is brimming with experiences to rebuild and recharge your relationship. These are some of the best things to do with your loved one in St. Kitts.

Ride the only working railway in the Caribbean
Is it just us, or is there something inherently fairytale about journeys by rail? Especially so when it’s on the last working railway in the Caribbean. Completed in 1926, this journey – now the St. Kitts Scenic Railway – once ferried the island’s sugarcane towards its capital city, Basseterre, for processing. Now a wonderful way to see the island, jump on board and be transported along the historical route, passing black-sand beaches, across canyon-top bridges, through small villages and, of course, past old sugar-cane estates. This 30-mile circular tour of the island comes with complimentary rum punch, frozen daiquiris, and a three-voice a cappella choir to complete the journey.
Sun, sea, sand – and sailing
No trip to the Caribbean is complete without days lounging on the soft sands and splashing in the sea – keep it simple with easy-going days under the sun (chilled cocktails in hand recommended). But we recommend taking to the water by boat, too. You’ll find every water sport imaginable here, from jet-skiing and para-sailing to the more humble snorkelling and paddle-boarding. By night, the Caribbean Sea takes on a whole different persona; experience the best of it with an hour or two spent night kayaking under the stars. This LED-lit, glass-bottom kayak adventure illuminates the night sea, allowing you to spot all manner of marine life as you paddle. Or, soak up the best of both day and night as you (literally) sail into the sunset together, on a catamaran cruise. After all, nothing says ‘I Love You’ quite like a sunset – especially in the Caribbean.
Dine With a Difference
On any couples’ getaway, ordering dinner-for-two to the room is more than acceptable (encouraged, even) but for days when you’re looking for something a bit different, St. Kitts pulls out all the stops with fine-dining experiences in take-your-breath-away locations. The Cabana Dining Package at Koi Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton will see you and your loved-one dining on a four-course chef-curated meal under the stars. Bottle of sparkling included of course. At Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour, ‘Destination Dining‘ takes on new meaning with experiences including a three- or four-course starlit dinner on the beach with views towards sister island, Nevis, or beside the hotel pool’s trickling waterfall. To learn more about local ingredients and culinary techniques, opt for the Chef’s Table.
Let’s Get Physical
Physically active, that is. And there are plenty of ways to do it in St. Kitts. Perhaps the most rewarding is a day spent hiking through the rainforest surrounding Mount Liamuiga, a dormant volcano towards the north of the island. Capped by clouds, emerging through them onto the 1,156 metre summit – overlooking sweeping views of the island and its sea – is to experience the raw wonder of nature together, making memories to last a lifetime. Back on ground level, even more adventure awaits: saddle up for a horseback ride through local flora and fauna towards Basseterre, or hop on an ATV to whizz through the island’s historic architecture and sugarcane fields.
Reach New Heights
The sky’s the limit, so they say. Test the theory at St. Kitts’ Sky Safari, which will see you and your loved one whizzing over rainforest, rivers, sugar plantations and Mount Liamuiga, strapped into one of five sky-high zip lines. From 250 feet above the ground, and reaching speeds of up to 80 kilometres an hour, this exhilarating experience is one of the most unique ways to see the island’s terrain – if you can keep your eyes open long enough to take it all in. One thing is for sure though, this experience is bound to elevate your relationship in more ways than one.
Couples (Spa) Therapy
What would a couples’ trip be without a day (or longer) spent in the spa? There’s perhaps nothing as relaxing as downtime, just the two of you, in a sumptuous spa. And on an island like St. Kitts there’s almost no end of options, from serene seaside massages to holistic wellness centres. Go all out with an indulgent 50-minutes couples’ massage at Park Hyatt St. Kitts’ Sugar Mill Spa & Sanctuary; create your own body scrub at Belle Mont Sanctuary Resort (the ideal way to take some of the island’s wellbeing home with you); or tap into mindfulness together with a couples yoga flow session – a shared experience bound to bring you closer in mind, body and soul.
Where To Stay
While there is no end of endlessly romantic hotels in St. Kitts, four of the island’s hotels – Koi Resort, a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel, Belle Mont Sanctuary Resort, Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour, and Ramada By Wyndham St. Kitts Resort – have curated extra-special packages designed to help couples reconnect with each other. Including bespoke dinners curated by top chefs and served under the stars; bottles of bubbles and boxes of chocolates sent to your room; and complimentary couples’ massages – book by 31 January 2025 and travel before the end of February 2025 for a true get-away-from-it-all, just-us-two stay.
