Louis Vuitton’s Legendary Collaboration Relaunch Is Already The Most Stylish Luggage of 2025

Louis Vuitton has relaunched its influential collaboration with Takashi Murakami and it promises to become the most-wanted luggage on every fashion editor’s list in 2025.

The news marks the 20th anniversary of the original collection, when the Japanese artist was initially enlisted by Vuitton’s then creative director Marc Jacobs. The spring/summer 2003 collaboration was seismic, uniting art and shopping for the first time. Although Elsa Schiaparelli had worked with Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau in the 1930s, Louis Vuitton x Murakami prompted the concept go stratospheric.

The artist replaced the heritage French brand’s brown logo branding with vibrant shades, and covered smiling flowers and cartoon characters across bags and accessories. The wait lists were huge and the collection became a big moment in popular culture, worn by multiple Noughties style icons including Naomi Campbell and Paris Hilton.

For 2025, the two have partnered again delivering an expansive collection of 200 items, in which Murakami’s unique traditional Japanese art, sci-fi, anime and whimsical kawaii characters is splashed over bags, scarves, sunglasses, shoes and wallets. Zendaya stars in the new campaign, wearing Y2K-appropriate low-rise, bootcut jeans and a cropped white T-shirt.

It’s the luggage – the reimagined iconic OnTheGo, Speedy and Rolling Trunk styles – that have firmly caught our eye though, soon to be seen on only the most elite of airport conveyor belts this year. New printing technology means that the prints are even more vivid and well defined.

Louis Vuitton × Murakami will be available to order worldwide from 1st January, 2025. A second collection will be launched in March focusing on the artist’s spring-ready Cherry Blossom pattern.
