Editor's Letter: January 2025

I’ve seen a few 2025 ‘what’s going in, what’s going out’ lists. I love reading these… Some of mine? Barrel jeans, rubbish airplane wifi, post 8.30pm dinner plans are out. Positive self-talk, bucket list travel, reading are in.

Religiously, every 30th December, I write my goals for the upcoming year. As I’ve gotten older, the list has become much shorter, but the goals are much mightier. And I’m set on 2025 being a big year. We have events, collaborations, new writers, new columns, new team members, so much that is beyond exciting at CF’s HQ. And human connection is a big one. So many things can divide us, yet the power of human connection is vast, and prove we’re really not so different after all. Travel, our love of travel, the stories we gain and share from travel, the people we meet on our travels, all add to human connection. Travel might be an escape, but it brings us closer together.

The digital world is incredibly fast paced and ever changing, and I’m taking pleasure in the unknown, excited to see where we can push ourselves this year. Personally, I’m committing to all my personal ‘ins’ for 2025. Reading (I have a pile of books under my bedside table), ensuring I take that ‘time-out’ to avoid burnout – a struggle so many will understand when working and being a parent – and delivering my (perhaps ambitious) goals for growth, personal and work.

Becki has lined up articles that are ticking all my reading boxes on wellness essentials (so make sure to check in with these), Katie and the team are highlighting the hotels that I’m raring to visit this year, Morag is rounding up the inspirational mums to keep each other boosted, and Ella is making sure I stay comfortably, stylishly cool. Alex and I have a line up of some stellar events which I think you’ll all really enjoy (emphasising the human connection), along with a new podcast series, video series, our new membership platform and more.

So whether you’re a list maker or not, whether January 1st is just another day or a fresh start, make it count. In fact, make every day count. I look forward to writing this note on January 1st 2026 asking the questions, how did we do? Did we nail it? Do we feel good? I hope so. We’re in it together.

Happy New Year to all,

Sheena
