Tweak of the Week

Beauty Insiders Are Flocking To This Glow-Boosting Clinic. Here's Why

There’s a new glow-boosting clinic in central London. On the corner of Portman Square, you might just spot a flock of fresh, glowy-faced people emerging from an understated wellness hub.

They are the clients of ‘King of Glow’, aka Dr Brendan Khong, who opened his clinic in December 2024. Khong, an aesthetic practitioner, has enviably radiant skin himself: picture ‘glass skin’ – the trend for a super glossy, smooth skin finish – and Dr Brendan Khong has it. And he’ll help you achieve it too.

Our beauty director Becki Murray made an appointment at his new base, BK Aesthetics Clinic, to find out more.

How to get ‘the glow’

Most of Dr Brendan’s clients are busy working professionals, with social lives just as hectic, but you’ll never notice a dull, tired look on their faces. My face, when I went to see him though, was a bit of a different story. Deadlines, late nights and a new training schedule had left my skin looking drained. I was unwilling to hide away at home for days on end recovering from any aggressive treatments to solve the issue, but low-downtime tweaks with long-lasting results is what Dr Brendan specialises in.

He suggested he customise one of his ‘beginner-friendly’ peels for me to try – the sort that won’t have you looking like Samantha from Sex & The City – combined with some light microneedling (and soothing aftercare) to reawaken my complexion in a flash.

The V Carbon Peel, with a blend of exfoliating acids, such as ferulic acid, lactic acid and mandelic acid, is the perfect dip-your-toe-in treatment for boosting glow. You just have to lie back and relax for twenty minutes after it is applied – with the quite fun side note that it sets jet black on your skin. I only felt very gentle tingling (which shows that it’s working) as it gently started removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and brightening my skin – without giving me a super red face. (I have sensitive skin and I’m hardly flushed in the photo below I took straight afterwards).

Another positive of a gentle peel is that it can boost the results of any other glow-boosting treatments you have afterwards too (something Dr Brendan recommends), by clearing away dead skin cells. In particular, he loves to use the Dermapen microneedling device, which creates tiny micro-injuries in your skin to trigger its natural repair processes, while also pushing customisable ampoules of skin-boosting ingredients deeper into your skin.

I was after some supercharged glow-boosting hydration, so a quick pass of the buzzing, slightly scratchy device across my face – don’t worry it’s totally bearable – teamed with a cocktail of vitamins and other hydrators, was just what the doctor ordered for smoothing and evening out my complexion in a flash.

Other trending glow-boosting treatments to try

Mesotox: For a ‘glass skin’ glow

One of Dr Brendan’s most requested treatments is Mesotox, a South Korean technique that gets you a luminous, glowy finish, fast. It sees diluted toxin – the same type that is used to smooth away wrinkles, injected into the very top layer of your skin. This helps subtly tighten and smooth away fine lines, while helping your skin reflect more light. But, it doesn’t limit your facial movement in the same way as traditional Botox does.

Profhilo: For long-lasting hydration

The trending skin booster Profhilo is like injecting a hydrating serum just under the surface of your skin. In fact, it uses a hero ingredient you’ve probably heard about – hyaluronic acid. When injected under the surface of your skin it helps to restore and hold moisture, leading to a refreshed, glowing complexion.

Polynucleotides: For skin rejuvenation

Polynucleotides are everywhere at the moment – and for good reason. The injectable works by stimulating your skin to produce new skin quality-boosting components such as collagen and elastin, rejuvenating your complexion from the inside out. Nucleofill is a variety that’s great for dealing with dull, tired-looking and dehydrated skin around your eyes, without the ‘full’ look of filler.

Targeted laser: for scarring

Restoring your natural glow can often be overlooked when dealing with an irritating long-term skin concern, such as acne scars and uneven pigmentation, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s why Dr Brendan’s clinic is now home to an exciting new laser called the Aerolase Neo Lite. This clever piece of tech is incredibly precise at targeting only the ‘imperfect’ areas of skin, meaning there’s no skin dulling downtime, and, best of all, it is safe for all skin types, including Black skin.

Who is Dr Brendan Khong?

Dr Brendan Khong is already a well-known name (and face) in the world of non-surgical tweakments, rising to prominence at the Dr David Jack clinic. Now, he offers his trending selection of results-driven glow-boosting tweakments, from peels to injectables from his BK Aesthetics Clinic – a new business currently split between the UNTIL wellness hubs of Marylebone and Soho.
