This Week CF Loves: 03.02.25

We’re only taking front row seats this week. From weekend dining to evening entertainment, catch some friends or a loved one this month of romance and make it memorable.

Book one for dinner with (and by) the Japanese sushi master for a very special dinner for one night only; take centre stage (with the actors) at this powerful and brilliant piece of theatre in London’s West End; and get a close up, undisrupted view of nature in France’s Loire Valley. This is what we’re loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.

ENJOY DINING HERE Nobu in Town

Planning ahead for Saturday night? Make it memorable this weekend. On Saturday, 8th February, Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch’s restaurant will host an extraordinary, one-night-only dining experience led by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa himself. There are few chefs famous enough to go by just one name, but then there are few chefs who are as globally renowned as Chef Nobu. Born and raised in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture and a classically trained sushi chef, it was in Peru, where he moved to open a sushi bar, that Chef Nobu’s signature style of cuisine was born. His professional culinary journey next took him to Argentina, back to Japan, onwards to Alaska, and then to Los Angeles where he opened Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills in 1987. He developed a friendship with actor Robert De Niro, leading to the birth of the Nobu brand in New York City in 1994, and the rest is culinary history. ‘Nobu In Town’ lets you enjoy an unmissable exclusive Omakase menu, celebrating the essence of Nobu’s world-renowned culinary excellence by the main man himself and the restaurant’s 30th anniversary.

STAY HERE Loire Valley Lodges

Romantic retreats are us this month. Hopeless romantics or friends wanting some quality time, Loire Valley Lodges combines art with collections of work from contemporary artists and breathtaking views of the forest. Just over one hour from Paris by train, Loire Valley has been the chosen destination of French elites seeking tranquility and bliss, and these lodges bring cosiness and comfort, and an ideal break from all the hustle and bustle of city life. Check into one of the hotel’s 18 modern Nordic-style treehouses, engulfed by 300 hectares of private woodland, where the vibe is discreet but natural luxury. It’s pared back – the view is the star of the show – but the bathroom, equipped with double sinks and a rain shower, comes with the fluffiest white towels and robes plus Leif and Aesop products, while the king-sized bed has luxury Egyptian cotton linen. On the huge 25square metre decking at the front is a dining table, lounge chairs and a private hot tub (with a bottle of Champagne chilling in the fridge nearby). Everything has been designed to help guests relax. So lay in and enjoy breakfast served in-lodge with a feast of eggs, salmon, bread, freshly baked croissant loaf, local honey and juice.

WEAR THIS AMANU belts

Perfectly adapting for winter for summer staple sandals is AMANU. Known for timeless luxury designs with custom, elegant sandals at the core. The idea is a fairly straightforward one, drawn from the side streets of old world cities: walk into a shop, pick what you like, and have a craftsman make it for you. That’s in store. But online, you’ll find a small selection of meticulously crafted pieces, with the same bespoke quality. As much as an investment as the sandals are, the new collection of belts are no exception to this rule. A sleek leather belt not only stands the test of time but also becomes a reliable, go-to piece that elevates any outfit effortlessly. Made from the softest Italian leather finished with handcast Kenya brass, Amanu’s belt collection reflects simplicity and refined elegance.

SEE THIS Kyoto, Soho Place Theatre, London

Kyoto’s recent opening in London’s West End is to rave reviews and is the ‘only play you need to see right now’ (according to Broadway World). The premise? Everyone is trying to agree on a global treaty to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, seen as the leading cause of the hole in the O-Zone layer and the precursor to impending climate catastrophe. An invigorating and challenging piece of political theatre, watching it today – as Los Angeles burns and an American president is backed by climate change-denying billionaires – it feels like being immersed in a vital and essential draft of history. It tells us how we got to where we are. At the centre of the stage is the large conference table at which the delegates are sat, but there’s places at the table for the audience too, bringing them right into the action. Best seats to book? These ones, to be right in front of the action.

VISIT THIS Toklas Citrus Market

This weekend, Toklas Bakery, along with their friends at Shrub, Ottolenghi, Eric’s, Quince Bakery, Apricity, and Lyle’s, will host a one-day market celebrating the vibrant produce and unique citrus varieties from the Todoli Citrus Foundation. Offering a selection of creative dishes, including limited edition pastries, sandwiches, and other tasty treats, the third annual Citrus Market celebrates the peak fruits of the season sourced from fifth generation citrus specialist, Vicente Todolí, who farms a private collection of over 300 varieties over 13 acres. Kicking off at 10am, grab yourself anything from Fino lemon – a higher acidity level than other lemons, zested and added to Lemon and Pistachio Friand, or ripe navel oranges combined with seasonal rhubarb in Rhubarb and navel orange brioche. The market is free to enter and will run from 10am until sell-out.
