We know how much mums love and need a little bit of self care from time to time. So, every month, we’ll be checking into (and checking out) treatments for mums and mums-to-be. First up, the Cycle of Life spa day at Beaverbrook.
With therapies designed for pregnancy and postnatal, and including those with hormone balancing, mood boosting and – most of all – relaxing results, these treatments focus on women’s wellbeing as they navigate the physical and emotional demands of motherhood.
THE LOWDOWN
A day spent amidst the rolling Surrey Hills at luxury country estate Beaverbrook is a treat in itself, but mums-to-be will get an extra dose of rejuvenation with a visit to The Coach House Spa for a specially tailored treatment. Pre-natal specialist Annie Brown is one of the therapists on the spa’s roster of Visiting Masters and, using her many years of experience, she’s created a blissful session that is deeply therapeutic. The Cycle of Life treatment focuses on fostering the connection between mother and baby through all stages of pregnancy.
The 90-minute treatment begins with a foot soak in soothing bath salts, which Annie says helps to open the solar plexus reflex point, one of the most important chakras in pregnancy. Then, laying on your side with a pillow squeezed between your legs for comfort, she expertly kneads away at tight muscles and pressure points, targeting any areas where you might be feeling tension: such as the lower back, shoulders or swollen ankles. It’s incredibly gentle, but also very effective – you can feel any stress you are holding on to melt away.
The highlight of the treatment is her special abdominal massage, where Annie recommends using visualisation techniques to connect with your baby as she gently guides her hands over your stomach with her own brand’s Baby Bump Oil, rich in vitamins E and K, to help combat stretch marks and scars. Finally you will be given plenty of time to slowly ease yourself back into the moment after such a great opportunity to really switch off from the world around you.
WHO IS THE TREATMENT FOR?

Throughout the year, a varied programme of spa days and rejuvenating treatments are available for mothers-to-be, including the nurturing Cycle of Life treatment, which is most suited to mums in their second trimester. You can book this exact treatment during one of Annie’s visits to the spa – call them to check when she is next available. There are, however, very similar pregnancy treatments that are always available. The signature maternity treatment (£220 for 90 minutes) is a restorative treatment that combines a gentle rose-hip scrub and full-body massage with rose oils and balms to keep your skin supple and free from stretch marks. Packed with vitamins, anti-oxidants and Omega fatty acids, it calms, soothes and nourishes. Other treatments that are suitable during pregnancy, such as facials and reflexology, are also available to add on to your massage – ask the team when booking.
Whether you’re seeking balance, rejuvenation, or a peaceful retreat, Beaverbrook provides the perfect countryside escape to help mothers restore body, mind, and spirit.
FOOD + DRINK
Pop into The Coach House Deli, which has a wonderfully healthy menu that changes on a daily basis, but always features a selection of super-food salads, cold pressed juices, cakes and flatbreads baked in a traditional wood-fired pizza oven. Ingredients are fresh, and often picked from Beaverbook’s own garden that very day.
THE LOCATION
Spanning 470 acres of scenic Surrey countryside, Beaverbook is far from just a standalone spa, it’s a place to really make a day of it; depending on the time of year you might want to relax on a lounger by the indoor or outdoor heated pool. While the thermal spa area (sauna, steam, Jacuzzi) are not recommended for pregnant women, the nearby Relaxation Area is a dreamy spot to recline on a comfy day bed (in front of a warm fire during the winter months).
