Things To Do With Children This March: CE Team Recommends

March has arrived and with it some much needed sunshine! Here, the Citizen Enfants team share what they are up to with their children this month.

The sun is out, the daffodils are in bloom, and the new season has begun. Make the most of longer days and better weather with family adventures in and around London, tropical beach breaks and child-friendly weekends away. Plus we have fashion and interior finds for little ones (and ourselves), and ideas about how to celebrate Mother’s Day too. This is all the inspiration you’ll need for a marvellous March with your children.

BOOK Disney Jr. Live On Tour at the Southbank Centre. After catching Dancing on Ice at Wembley with my kids (who were glued), this is the next best thing, short of heading to Disneyland! VISIT The Roden Centre at The National Gallery which has just opened up; it’s a new cultural hub spanning three floors with free activities for kids of all ages. BUY I’ll be moving house at the end of this month and I’m enjoying decorating a new play room, so I’m spending a lot of time on Zara Home and Etsy for some fun, personalised toys and accessories. This is definitely one toy I’d like to squeeze in if I can. WEAR I’m restarting swimming lessons for my kids and I love this costume for my little girl and this very cute swim set for my boy. Paired with some very colourful goggles. DAY OUT With the weather looking so much better (and no long-haul, travel being almost 7 months pregnant), I’m all over day trips from London. Hampton Court Palace and their Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt and Hobbledown Heath being two favourites.

STAY I’m taking my boys to Bath for the weekend, staying at No. 15 Bath. It’s part of the Guest House Group and a stylish little spot that is also very family-friendly. BUY At the end of this month, we’re off to Mauritius so I’m getting my youngest son some cool new swimming trunks from OAS and some smarter shorts from Mr Marvis junior. For myself I’ll be picking up a new bikini from UnderstatementSEND I’m spending Mother’s Day on the beach with my kids, which is all the present I need. But I will be sending flowers from Flowerbox to my own mum. PLAY I recently came across the Tales Family Edition, a card game with over 150 conversation starters – such as ‘what three qualities make this family special to you’ and ‘how can this family best support your goals and dreams right now’. It’s such a nice idea, and a great one to play with grandparents and extended family too. READ The awesome Our World Our Roots books, a non-fiction series for kids that helps them discover more about the history and culture of countries including South Africa, Kenya and Jamaica. They’re written by mums who have family ties to each country.

EAT Meals from The Field Doctor are an absolute godsend when you’re juggling the work/life balance, but still want to eat fresh and healthy food. They’re packed full of nutritional, whole-food ingredients that have been selected by dieticians for the ultimate guilt-free ready meal. BUY I’m eyeing up a pair of Merry Boots in navy and tan for my two-year-old, super cute all-weather boots that are that bit smarter than your typical wellies for every day wear. I love that they make them in all sizes so the whole family can match! GO I finally got to watch Disney On Ice at The OVO with my nieces and it was such a lovely family day out. Seeing all the little ones in the audience dressed up as Disney characters and singing their hearts’ out was a highlight. WEAR Mother’s Day is coming up and these personalised lockets from Astley Clarke make for a very special keepsake. I love that they’re engravable and can house a picture of your favourite people/person to keep close to your heart at all times. ENJOY A delicious L’ETO cake delivered to the door – perfect for an at-home treat.

VISIT As South Londoners, we’re regulars of the Horniman Museum, which has a lot to offer kids of all ages. The small but perfectly formed aquarium is always a hit with our toddler, but we’re also taking him to The Robot Zoo this month, an exhibition featuring large robot-form animals to reveal the mechanisms that give them their amazing abilities. BUY I was in the Tate Modern gift shop recently and came across its very sweet kids T-shirts, perfect for any aspiring artists (and very reasonably priced). EAT The Rookery Cafe in Streatham Common is one of my favourite places to eat with kids, but it’s particularly great in spring when the neighbouring Rookery gardens are blooming. The food is hearty and warming, and the staff are incredibly tolerant of young kids – of which there are many. READ We’re stockpiling books ready for our son’s first long-haul flight to New Orleans later this month. Current favourite is New York Times bestseller Grumpy Monkey by Suzanne Lang, about a monkey having a bad day. It’s a sweet story that is ultimately a reminder that it’s ok to feel sad or fed-up sometimes, and that no emotion lasts forever. The illustrations are fun and engaging too. BOOK We’re planning lots of activities to keep everyone happy in New Orleans, including Music Box Village – an interactive outdoor sculpture garden where each piece is an instrument. Our son is going to lose his mind.

STAY I’m beyond excited to take my two young girls to Our Habitas in Morocco. A proper adventure to disconnect and do something different. SEE I would like to take my six-year-old daughter to see My Neighbour Totoro – I love getting them into the theatre from an early age. DO We are going Banana Biking in Battersea Park! I can’t wait, it looks so fun. BUY We always need new shoes, and I love these from Age of Innocence – they’re practical but chic. BOOK Easter holidays are on my mind so I am thinking about camps. Our favourite ones recently have been Tarka and Art Barn. But I also discovered a very cute cookery school.
