Things To Do In London For Ramadan And Eid 2025

Ramadan is observed worldwide and is a month-long period of reflection, kinship and prayer for the global Muslim community. These are the best things to do in London for Ramadan and Eid in 2025.

Many Muslims observe Ramadan by fasting from sunrise, breaking the fast with an iftar meal at sunset. Beginning on 1 March 2025, Ramadan lasts for 30 days and is followed by the Eid-al-Fitr celebration, this year falling on 31 March.

Across London, many Ramadan events take place throughout the month of March, including the popular Ramadan Lights, run clubs through central London with a like-minded community – and, of course, plenty of fast-breaking iftar feasts.

As the holy month comes to an end, Eid celebrations begin, which in London include prayer, creative workshops, live performances, fireworks and food.

This is what to do in London for Ramadan and Eid in 2025, including events, the best iftar meals in London, and Eid gift ideas for loved ones.

Things to do in London for Ramadan

See the Ramadan Lights in Central London

For the third year in a row, the Ramadan Lights are back. This year, more than 30,000 bulbs will light up in unison at 5pm every evening, and sparkle until 5am every morning – the timings are designed to reflect that of Ramadan’s iftar and suhoor meals, when fasts are broken everyday (iftar) and after which they begin (suhoor). Alongside Islamic-inspired geometric patterns, a large, stand-out light display will wish passersby a ‘Happy Ramadan’ from the 28 February switch-on until 29 March, when the greeting will switch to ‘Happy Eid’ (30 March – 6 April). When the aerial Ramadan Lights first shone in London’s West End in 2023, they were a first – not only for central London, but for the centre of any western city. Find them on Coventry Street, which connects Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square – and long may they last.

Take part in a run through central London with the Ramadan Run Club

Runners of all levels and all faiths are invited to join in with the Ramadan Run Club (RRC), which will take place across London throughout March. The RRC was created by the Ramadan Tent Project to encourage those seeking to stay active during the holy month, but also to build a sense of community. Runs will start in central London, and cover roughly five kilometres, before ending at one of the capital’s Open Iftar tables: all runners are guaranteed a seat at the iftar table to feast with friends old and new.

Iftar in London: The Best Iftar Meals In London

Open Iftar

Open Iftar, created by Ramadan Tent Project, is really quite special. Bringing people together for iftar across the UK, in locations as unique as they are impressive – such as Windsor Castle, Cardiff Football Club and King’s College, Cambridge. In 2025 – the 12th year of Open Iftar – London locations have so far included  Shakespeare’s Globe and the V&A Museum, and still to come this week is Trafalgar Square (29 March). Meals are provided by local caterers and usually announced on the day: but expect anything from Lebanese grills to Moroccan tagines, Pakistani biryani to Turkish rice. Open Iftars are free of charge, with an option for a charitable donation.

InterContinental London Park Lane

Would it be iftar without shorba (a red lentil soup), falafel, babaganoush and slow-cooked lamb? British-Jordanian chef, Ayesha Kalaji doesn’t think so, so she’s collaborated with Mayfair’s InterContinental London Park Lane to curate an iftar menu featuring all of this, and more. Served at The Wellington Lounge, and overlooking Green Park, the menu may sound traditional, but chef Kalaji intends to surprise, too, saying that “some dishes may look traditional, but then you taste them and realise there are flavours you may have never had”. End your evening with her rose and saffron-infused rice pudding, or the baklava cheesecake.

For the first time ever, an Iftar Foodie Trail is running in London, organised by The Aziz Foundation – the team behind London’s Ramadan Lights. Giving Londoners the opportunity to eat their way around the city come sundown, restaurants taking part with special iftar menus include LSQ Rooftop at 1 Leicester Square, who have curated a Ramadan iftar menu featuring Medjool dates, a mixed mezze platter, lamb kofta and chicken shish, kunafa and coffee (£45 per person), and Farzi London who are serving Yemeni-style biryani, papdi chaat and rose-infused falooda, among other dishes (£20 per person). At other spots across London – Franco’s London, Americana London, plus Leicester Square’s Bone Daddies and Shake Shack – special discounts are being given. Find out more, as well as what to quote at the till to avail the offers, here.

Coya Mayfair

Coya Mayfair has curated a halal-certified, iftar set-menu featuring their restaurant favourites alongside new dishes that will be served only during Ramadan: Cazuela de Calabaza, a roasted squash with bomba rice and ají amarillo crema fresca; Braseado de Res, a slow-cooked beef brisket with a corn glaze and crispy shimeji mushrooms; and the ever-so-tempting Crocante de Pistachio con Azafran, a pistachio and orange blossom cake with safran gelato. The iftar menu will be served everyday from sunset until 7.30pm, alongside non-alcoholic cocktails.

An homage to the Irani cafés of Bombay, Dishoom is much loved across London and beyond. This Ramadan, their iftar menu features dishes including keema pau, tandoori chaat and okra fries, as well as an iftar special: daal gosht, a slow-cooked lamb leg with daal and served with paratha. There’s a vegetarian and vegan iftar menu too, with highlights including the Awadhi jackfruit biryani, chole puri and chilli broccoli salad, and desserts include kulfi and basmati kheer. Served from sunset every evening throughout Ramadan until 31 March 2025 – the iftar menu is available to groups of four or more, and starts with Medjool dates – served within restaurants as well as to anyone waiting in line for a table.

Eid Events in London

Eid-al-Fitr workshop at Lush Lakeside

Not only has Lush created a collection of (seriously delicious smelling) limited-edition gifts for Eid, such as the Salam shower gel, Basma body soap and Noor lip butter, but they’re inviting you to join them to create your own, too. The Lush Eid workshop is being held at the Lakeside branch at the end of Ramadan – just in time to make and gift (or keep) a Tumeric Roll fresh cleanser of your own, and has been designed by one of their team members who celebrates. You’ll also be introduced to other exclusive Eid products, be offered a free henna hair dye if you decide to buy the henna block and knot wrap, and leave with a goodie bag. There’s no excuse not to smell exquisite this Eid.

London Eid at Westfield

In previous years, London Eid at Westfirld saw halal food stalls serving up dishes from North Africa and the Middle East, among others; henna artists; an Islamic art display; live entertainment; face painting and a play area for children; and of course an opportunity to shop for Eid. This year, London Eid at Westfield will take place at both the Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford shopping centres across two consecutive weekends, offering a chance to shop homeware, fashion, gifts and more alongside entertainment.

Eid in the Park in Ilford

Taking place at the Green-Flag awarded Goodmayes Park in Ilford, 1Eid is an event ideal for all the family. It starts with Eid Salah (morning prayers) at 10am, which are followed by two days of festivities, including a funfair, petting zoo, competitions, fire jugglers and a firework finale. Everyone is welcome to join the celebrations, and tickets can be purchased according to which events you wish to attend: perhaps prayer and fireworks only, festival only, or a combination of all. 1Eid is a community-run event, led by volunteers and they’ll also be hosting a similar event in Luton’s Wardown Park.
