Editor's Letter: April 2025

In March (like every other month for us), we put an emphasis on women and their achievements. It was particularly moving to hear the stories of success and of achievement, as much as that of struggle and failure – and more so overcoming it.

At an event we held at The Ivy members’ club, one of our panellists, Sara Bowcutt, Co-Managing Director of Women for Women International – UK, was asked about how women across the globe deal with struggle. We must consider that a woman’s struggle in Afghanistan is vastly different to a woman’s struggle in New York or London or Paris. Neither is undermined but the root and how one can voice their opinion varies. Her response? Community. Women deal with struggles globally, in ultimately the same way. And this is not an answer I expected, although I’m not entirely surprised. It’s the one thing that we do well, now more so than ever. We grow our community. We grow our network. We support each other. I hope Citizen Femme serves as a platform that inspires and supports you, alongside our hosting of events that you can enjoy with other women you admire, are inspired by or indeed, relate to.

April sees us discussing The Five Senses. The CF Editor’s recall their favourite memories heightened by sense, all through travel. Talking about an immersion on all five senses, Citizen Femme just took a trip to Puerto Rico to discover the fantastic Caribbean destination that needs to be on our lists. Watch this space for the full low down! This month, we explore a beginner’s guide to sound healing, delve into the world’s best nightclubs, eat our way through Kigali’s food scene, and reveal the newest spa craze – sensory deprivation. Our Out of Office series has kicked off with Whitney Bromberg Hawkings, Caggie Dunlop and Venetia Archer. Plus there’s the launch of Katie’s new column The Take (Off), with her monthly hot takes, if you will.

So let us transport you this April through all five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Stay tuned and we promise we will tantalise each and every one.
