Spring is finally here, and April comes with a long Easter bank-holiday weekend too.
With places to explore and eat, products to try, plenty to shop, and lots to watch – this is what the Citizen Femme team’s calendar is filled with this April.

This month is all about balance given it’s the Easter break (for three whole weeks), and there are a lot of exciting things taking place. SEE I’m very excited to see the new Carmen at the Royal Opera House, an opera I’ve never seen before. ENJOY It’s one of my favourite times of year and where possible, I love walking everywhere. So, alongside comfortable shoes, I’m glued to the Acquired podcast (as recommended by Alex Carello) and am currently listening to the evolution of LVMH covering the history, strategy and way in which Arnault completely reshaped the luxury sector over the past three and a half decades. It’s really worth a listen! EAT As soon as the sun peaks out, ice cream (or gelato) is my go-to and there’s nowhere better than Badiani for their insatiable pistachio. Mercato Mayfair is a favourite spot. INDULGE IN I’m moving home and with a bit more space, I’m very excited to be able to keep fresh flowers in the house on a dining table (without toys) so I’m signing up to FLOWERBX – adding a smile to my face after the stress of moving home!

April is a big month for me, as I’m turning 40! My birthday falls just before the long Easter weekend and I’ve planned a fun few days in Athens. I’ll: STAY At La Divina, a new hotel in the centre of Athens. It used to be a music hall paying homage to opera star Maria Callas. EAT At so many great places, including Kalua Athens and Gargaretta. BUY A new birthday-dinner dress. I love this studded maxi by Sandro, this mini by Self-Portrait and this midi from River Island. Decisions decisions! VISIT The Face Magazine: Culture Shift exhibition at the National Portrait gallery when I’m in London for the second half of the month. TRY The Fortnum & Mason Affogato easter egg: half of it is made from dark chocolate and coffee, and the other half from white chocolate and vanilla – perfect for someone like me who loves chocolate in any and all forms!

STAY At Treehouse London, right near the BBC building. It has become a top recommendation for when my friends want a fun, relaxed and (most importantly) central hotel to explore the capital from, and the Madera restaurant has some of the best Mexican fusion food I’ve ever tasted. RIDE (Or more accurately learn to ride) my new Cannondale road bike – a present from my boyfriend. He’s trying to console me over a forced break from running post-knee injury and while I’m currently more ‘all gear, no idea’, I’m looking forward to exploring on two wheels this spring and summer. EXPERIENCE Wellness, even on a tight schedule at Vidavii. Right off bustling Oxford Street, this oasis of a wellbeing centre offers Breathe (oxygen chamber), Squeeze (lymphatic drainage) and Freeze (cryotherapy) circuits plus a full 3D Body Scan. Best of all, you can feel revitalised in just 30 minutes. EAT The best sweet potato fritters in London at Brother Marcus in Angel. I’m looking to reinstate the tradition my sister and I had of making time for at least one catch-up breakfast a month together, and we love this outpost in bustling Camden Passage when the sun is shining. LISTEN To big Pop songs turned into vintage genres, especially jazz, when I hear Postmodern Jukebox at the Royal Albert Hall at the end of the month. The rotating musical collective founded by New York-based pianist Scott Bradlee never fails to make me smile with its creative reimaginings.

STAY We are starting April on safari in South Africa. My local friends recommend Nambiti Hills, a private game reserve in KwaZulu Natal which looks amazing. I’ve been on safari before, but I can’t wait for my kids to see the Big Five up close for the first time. WEAR I’m planning my safari wardrobe (any excuse!) so I’ve added some new khaki shorts from Rails, a little raffia crossbody bag from the White Company and a cute little bandana from Call It By Your Name. ORDER We will be spending the Easter weekend in Devon having a big get together, so I’m going to order one of the amazing Daylesford Easter Family Hampers for everyone to tuck into. BUY I love fresh flowers in my kitchen and this gorgeous vase from Rebecca Udall is the perfect way to display them. PLAN It has just been announced that Edward Enfield is going to curate an exhibition, The 90s, at the Tate. It opens in October 2026; tickets aren’t on sale yet but this is definitely one for the diary. READ When The Going Was Good, the new book by legendary Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter; it’s all about his time in magazines. Having worked in the glossies for many years, I’m sure I’ll find it a wonderful, nostalgic read.

EAT Perfect for a post-work get together, Sexy Fish Mayfair have just launched Sundown Somewhere – a weekday happy hour menu, serving up some of their most-loved Japanese-inspired snacks, wine and cocktails for just £9 each. I’ll be hot-footing it over with the girls for spicy yellowtail maki and a cold glass of Lady A rosé. BUY Missoma have opened one of their seriously cool boutiques in my local town, Marlow. I’m looking forward to treating myself to an in-store welded bracelet experience and a new ear piercing – I’ve got my eye on their cute diamond studded mushroom. TRY I’m an avid SPF wearer all-year-round in a desperate bid to dodge any further sun damage (hello, hyperpigmentation), so the release of Augustinus Bader’s SPF 50, formulated with Professor Bader’s now-infamous TFC8 technology, is a must-try. VISIT Sloane Street is joining The Big Egg Hunt 2025 in partnership with the Elephant Family. Twenty giant eggs are dotted along the street, from Knightsbridge to Sloane Square, and created by artists, luxury brands and institutions including Anya Hindmarch, Hackett London, Chelsea Arts Club, Saatchi Gallery and Chelsea Physic Garden. The trail is part of a wider London takeover of more than 100 eggs, all up for auction to raise funds for Elephant Family’s conservation work in South Asia.

EAT If you’re a big fan of French food, then I recommend trying Café François in Borough Market. I finally got around to trying it and can confirm it lives up to the hype. The steak frites was delicious, the atmosphere convivial and relaxed and the staff so approachable. Leave room for the caramel and chocolate eclair – it is divine. WEAR I love Harling Ross’ new capsule collection for nightwear brand If Only If. It’s not a big collab – three dresses and a headscarf – but it looks exactly like warm weather feels. The buttery colours and loose silhouettes have such a vintage-pretty feel and can be worn outside or inside. VISIT The V&A opens its much-anticipated Cartier exhibition this month, which I’m really looking forward to. Over 350 of the French brand’s glittering pieces will be displayed, worn by a mix of royalty and celebrities. SEE I’m obsessed with Last One Laughing on Amazon, a new series where high-profile comedians are all put in the same room and each tasked with not making each other laugh. It’s one of the funniest, mood-boosting shows I’ve seen in a long time. On a different note, I’m going to see the critically-acclaimed production Playfight at Soho Theatre about three teenage girls navigating adolescence, sexuality, identity, and consent. Having debuted to much fanfare at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it’s an exploration of how violence and sex can intersect. READ I’ve recently discovered Vivian Gornick’s memoir Odd Woman in the City, which I recommend to anyone who loves urban living like I do. The book is a series of vignettes of everyday New York life, serving as a love letter to the city. Gornick’s writing is as witty as Fran Leboivitz but with the warmth of Nora Ephron. I can’t believe I haven’t come across her sooner.

SPA At Jacy’z in Gothenburg, for a much-needed spring refresh. Think rooftop views and spa treatments. I can’t wait to switch off for a bit and soak it all in. BUY Zara’s spring new-ins are looking really good right now. I just did a little haul and picked up this satin cowl-neck dress that I can’t wait to style. EAT At Oblix West at The Shard. Their Sunday roast menu is unmatched – and when you pair that with panoramic views of London, it’s the most perfect vibe. Great food, great setting, and a solid way to slow down and savour the weekend. TRY I don’t usually get excited about beauty products, but the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Eye Patches are really that good. I never sleep enough, but these help me look like I did. They’re super hydrating and make me look way more alive on tired mornings. DO I’m taking myself on more solo dates, and recently tried a calligraphy class in London. It was such a calming way to spend a couple of hours. Whether you’re into handwriting or just want something relaxing to do now the weather’s warmer – it’s worth trying.

TRAVEL On the Belmond trains, which I am captivated by and have firmly added to my bucket-list trips. This slow and romantic way of travel looks heavenly; the train to Machu Picchu and the Venice Simplon Orient Express are at the top of my list. WEAR My perfect travel outfit, which I found at Varley. BUY I love these jeans from one of my favourite brands Agolde, they will be so chic when paired with a structured white T-shirt for spring. WAIT FOR These exclusive Ben Amun bangles from Moda Operandi that I’ve bought – I cannot wait for them to arrive! They’ll be great for summer in London and on holiday. BEAUTY 111 Skin is always my go to beauty brand when I feel my skin needs a lift – their face masks have become a must in my household.

CELEBRATE My birthday, which always seems to last a month (and why not?) at one of my favourite spots: chef Yannick Alleno’s Michelin-starred Pavyllon at The Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane. I love French cuisine and my standout dishes are the steamed comte cheese soufflé and the delicious salted chocolate ganache. WEAR Lucy and Yak – which prides itself on being an organic and British recycled clothing brand offering stylish, comfortable and colourful clothing to fit all sizes. EAT It’s probably a crime but I do tend to visit a very well-known chicken shop for their hot chicken wings… But, whenever I want an indulgent upgrade, I go to Bébé Bob in Soho. I love their rotisserie chicken and truffle chips. If you’re feeling fancy, add a dollop of caviar. WATCH The brilliant political and sci-fi thriller series Paradise on Disney+ starring Sterling K.Brown and James Marsden. A ‘whodunit’ with wit, the plot revolves around a Secret Service agent investigating the murder of a former president. BUY Colourful and sparkly jewellery from Amelia Scott. With vintage designs, the majority of the jewellery pieces are crafted from Recycled 925 Sterling Silver and embellished with colourful cubic zirconia.

VISIT I’m looking forward to flying to Bilbao this month, if only for the night. It’s for good reason: Guggenheim Bilbao is opening a major exhibition on one of the most celebrated American artists of the 20th century: Helen Frankenthaler who led the abstract expressionist movement, featuring lots of action painting with bold colours. She helped paved the way for many male artists (and was inspired by the pioneering Jackson Pollock herself) to follow in this style. EAT Spring has arrived in London; I truly hope it’s here to stay. This means it’s time to book al fresco spots for weekend dining with friends. Kitty Hawk overlooks the city’s storied West End and serves an elevated Sunday lunch with three starters, three roasts, and three desserts to choose from. It’s a crowd pleaser. KEEP UP WITH Milan Design Week (or Salone del Mobile) which spotlights the very best artisans and creatives within the furniture and design worlds. Museums, palaces, galleries, designers, shops and more will spotlight their prestigious pieces around the city. This year will also see the Design Kiosk return featuring book, magazine and design presentations. READ The International Booker Prize shortlist will be released very soon (8 April) and I love allowing this list to guide what I should be reading for the next few months. From On a Woman’s Madness to Reservoir Bitches there are already lots of exciting titles piquing my interest. SHOP I’m on the look out for a stylish but practical hand luggage bag for flying. It needs to fit my laptop, cosmetics and a few books, but still look good and fit those pesky airplane dimensions. The Midi New York bag by Demellier London ticks everything on my list, plus it comes in this beautiful mocha-toned suede – swoon.
