CF x Discover Puerto Rico: A Tastemakers' Globetrotting Getaway

Five days, four tastemakers, three hotels, two pleasant surprises, one Caribbean island. Welcome to the Globetrotting Girls’ Getaway, a Citizen Femme tastemaker trip with Discover Puerto Rico.

The goal? To open the eyes of culturally curious, influential women – with strong interests in travel, adventure, luxury, food and culture – to Puerto Rico as the single must-visit destination for 2025.

Our once-in-a-lifetime trip was captured on camera by tastemakers Nina Suess, Betty Bachz, Vic Ceridono, Sarah Ann Macklin, plus CF’s Katie Silcox, who each shared their experiences in real-time, inviting their combined 1.1+ million followers to join their Puerto Rico adventures with them.

On this island-wide trip, we sought out history and women-owned businesses in San Juan, tasting local chocolate, coffee and spices as we wandered. We uncovered art and architecture in Ponce, and strolled down Paseo Amor, one of the city’s small back streets where women used to stand with small hand-held fans, flicking them backwards and forwards to indicate their feelings towards potential love interests. We toured Finca La Zafra, a family-run agroecological space, before joining them for a cooking class to make our own delicious pasteles for lunch, eating them alongside a Piña Colada (while we got caught in the rain!).

And the beaches, oh the beaches. With around 300 miles of golden sands, the coastlines of Puerto Rico are worth the visit alone. We soaked up the sun, cruised through sunsets and peddled out to deserted sandbanks. But the experience that we’ll never forget was snorkelling in a bioluminescent bay after dark; as the full moon shone down, we wafted our hands through the dark waters which came to life with a neon-blue glitter at every movement thanks to its millions of microorganisms that responded to our touch. Truly an experience that will be hard to beat.

The result? With a whopping 384+ stories from the trip shared on Instagram, as well as nine posts and nine reels – all amplified by Citizen Femme’s Instagram page – we reached an audience of 4.5 million+ making our Puerto Rico Globetrotting Girls’ Getaway an outstanding success; millions of people across the world learnt more about Puerto Rico through intimate storytelling, designed to allow the audience to feel as if they were actually there.

The pleasant surprises we found in Puerto Rico? How good the food is (some of the best in the Caribbean), and just how vast and diverse the island is: despite traversing 230 miles across a five-day trip (with Bad Bunny on repeat!) there are a million more reasons to return).

We also (re)proved that CF x Tastemaker trips have true gravitas, and make a real difference to destination marketing.
