Jo Malone London Has Launched Its First Ever Spa Treatment: This Is What You Need To Know

The iconic British fragrance house Jo Malone London has partnered with AIRE Ancient Baths to launch its first-ever spa treatment. Called The Restorative Ritual, our beauty director was one of the very first people to try it. Here’s everything you need to know.

When I heard that Jo Malone London was marking the launch of its new Care collection with the brand’s first ever spa partnership, I was more than a little intrigued. After discovering the treatment was in collaboration with AIRE in Covent Garden, one of my favourite London spas – and it wasn’t just going to be a limited edition to the spa menu – I couldn’t have been more excited.

I was one of the very first to experience the truly indulgent body ritual and it delivers exactly what you’d hope: 150 minutes of pure, candlelit indulgence, complete with thermal pools, warm marble beds, and beautifully-scented, skin-nourishing scrubs and oils.

Hotly tipped as one of the most exciting spa collaborations of 2025, I tried it on a grey Tuesday and by the time I left, I felt like I’d returned from a four-day retreat.

What is Jo Malone London?

For the uninitiated, Jo Malone London is a British fragrance house that has long been celebrated for its beautifully crafted colognes, candles, and diffusers. Instantly recognisable for best-sellers including Lime Basil and Mandarin and Pomegranate Noir, many a beauty insider has worn a Jo Malone London scent on their wedding day and the candles are some of the most gifted presents for big occasions, such as Christmas and birthdays.

The new Care collection – exclusively available in Selfridges – brings the brand’s luxurious scents to a full range of bodycare products, including the nurturing oil and body-brightening scrub you can experience in the new treatment too. As you’d expect, the aromas are delightful, the textures are nourishing, and the effect on your mind is calming.

What is AIRE Ancient Baths London?

AIRE is no ordinary city spa. A complete cocoon away from the busyness of the capital – yet somehow still in the heart of Covent Garden – there are few places in London where time seems to genuinely slow down. Fewer still where you have to step away from the hectic pace outside; locking away your phone in the changing room (no photography allowed), as you descend into a subterranean sanctuary that feels closer to a Roman temple than your typical day spa.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient bathing cultures of Rome, Greece, and the Ottoman Empire, the London outpost of AIRE (the company has sites in Barcelona and New York City too) is an immersive space built around a series of thermal baths, with dim lighting, exposed brickwork, vaulted ceilings, and a silence so complete you can hear the water ripple beside you. The entire experience is built around contrast: hot and cold, darkness and light, stillness and movement. It’s meant to be disorientating in the best possible way – a reset for your overstimulated nervous system.

Tweak of the Week: The Restorative Ritual by Jo Malone London at AIRE Ancient Baths London

As with all experiences at AIRE, your Restorative Ritual includes a unique-to-the-capital hour-long bathing ritual, where you can feel tension melt away as you float between each of the six thermal baths. There’s the warm-water Tepidarium to settle you in, the deeply relaxing hot bath Caldarium for muscle relaxation, and – if you are brave enough – the bracing cold plunge in the Frigidarium to wake up every neuron in your body (before retreating to the warmth again!). Other memorable relaxation spaces include the Balneum: a bubbling jet bath that feels like a powerful underwater massage, and my personal favourite the Flotarium, a salt-dense pool where you float effortlessly like you’re in the Dead Sea.

Then, before your 60 minutes is up (and you’ll wish you had double the time), you’ll be guided to the Vaporium, a steam room infused with eucalyptus to clear the mind and sinuses. It also has the additional benefit of prepping your body for the Jo Malone x AIRE treatment to come – for which, your therapist will come to collect you, guiding you to your private treatment suite for The Restorative Ritual to begin.

One thing is certain, the collaboration between Jo Malone London and AIRE is a match made in relaxation heaven (and I only wish they had thought of it sooner). You begin on a heated marble bed, lying on a soft towel while the therapist gently applies warm water to your body. Then, your top-to-toe exfoliation begins using the first of two products from Jo Malone London’s broader Care body collection, The Restore Body Scrub.

This rich-textured polish combines sugar granules with softening oils and an enveloping scent of clove, honey, and almond that you’ll want to inhale again and again. Best of all, it’s not a rough scrub – it’s smooth and deliberate, combining all the sensory indulgence of Jo Malone London with the expert hands and slow, ritualistic pacing of AIRE therapists. Each limb is massaged in circular motions, from ankle to thigh, forearm to shoulder, with just enough pressure to boost circulation and lift away dull skin. The therapist also moves with intention, not speed, making it feel like a ritual-based slow polish rather than a vigorous slough.

Then, following a warm shower to rinse off, the massage begins. This is the heart of the ritual: 60 minutes of pure indulgence where your therapist uses the Jo Malone London Restore Body Oil, to deeply nourish your skin with almond, primrose, rosehip and neroli oils. It’s one of those massages where you feel like you’re sinking into the table, with my therapist using long, sweeping strokes punctuated with just the right amount of pressure on tired shoulders and calves. It felt deeply considered and personalised, ensuring I floated out of the room, ready for a glass of bubbles and some canapés (the finishing touch of the experience).

Afterwards, my skin felt like silk. Not oily or slippery, just soft and moisturised. The exfoliation had lifted any flakiness, especially on my arms and legs, but without irritation, and the oil absorbed beautifully so I didn’t feel sticky back in my clothes. More than that though, was the feeling that stayed with me. I felt the type of calm and centeredness that only comes when your nervous system is fully dialled down. Even as I emerged back to the ‘real world’, one sniff of the scent that I could still catch off my forearm was enough to keep me feeling zen, and I found myself not wanting to immediately pick up my phone to scroll.

Who can benefit from the treatment?

This is a treatment experience for anyone feeling overwhelmed or a bit disconnected from themselves – which, let’s face it, is most of us in London. It condenses into two and a half hours the kind of relaxation experience that some spas struggle to replicate in a full day, with its serene and cocooning atmosphere, mind and muscle-relaxing waters, and then that all-important deeply indulgent Jo Malone body ritual. It’s perfect for those going through periods of stress, post-travel recovery, or even just a long week. And you can book as a couple for a luxurious and memorable date filled with deep-centred relaxation too.

Why is The Restorative Ritual worthy of Tweak of the Week?

It’s easy to forget in the middle of the high-speed swirl of city life that true luxury can be something as simple as giving yourself a moment of self-care. Or better yet, 150 minutes. That’s exactly what The Restorative Ritual from Jo Malone London and AIRE invites you to do, with a full-body journey that leaves your skin glowing, your muscles softened, and your mind balanced. My skin felt softer, yes, but more importantly, I left feeling recalibrated. And in today’s non-stop culture, that’s priceless.
