Amrit Ocean Resort: The Modern Wellness Resort In Florida's Palm Beach

Palm Beach County’s Singer Island has a new seaside wellness oasis that aims to transport its guests and residents to an otherworldly dimension of zen.

Situated on Singer Island, a hospitality heavy isle on the Atlantic just south of Palm Beach Island, Amrit Ocean Resort, a luxury beachfront destination, blends ancient wellness techniques with modern amenities, design and service.

The Vibe

Not all wellness seekers are the crystal-carrying, tree-hugging types. While intimacy with members of the plant kingdom can be therapeutic, some travellers want a more low-key wellness experience. Enter Amrit Ocean Resort, an ultra-modern take on traditional wellness. Close your eyes and imagine you’re on the Starship Enterprise – but there’s a four-story, 103,000-square-foot wellness centre on board and it’s parked on the ocean. Now envision well-appointed rooms with views of said ocean, colourful artwork, and a team of staff that are at your beck and call 24/7. Awake peacefully every morning to panoramic views of the Atlantic sunrise, as the ocean laps against the seven acres of the resort’s private beachfront.

The Rooms

Amrit translates to “elixir of life” in Sanskrit, and to drink from this potent elixir, one must adopt the resort’s five pillars of wellness: mindfulness, nutrition, fitness, relaxation and sleep. Amrit’s guiding principles are carefully curated into every aspect of the property, including its 155 wellness-inspired guest rooms.

Muted tones throughout make sure the water views are a highlight of your stay, and pops of colourful artwork are an ode to the majestic ocean outside while giant glass doors open up to a balcony, further inviting nature inside. The thread count on the linens is sky-high, the Turkish towel-inspired bathrobes are divine and the bathroom is an extension of the guest room thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Last but not least, the gigantic oval soaking bathtub is a masterpiece, and a soak with the property’s signature bath salts is an absolute must.

The Food + Drink

The property’s five wellness-inspired dining concepts include TULĀ, the resort’s vegetable-forward, signature restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its name means “balance” in Sanskrit, and it’s inspired by the cuisines of the Blue Zones (places around the globe where people live extraordinarily long lives), combined with coastal Floridian ingredients. The menu is created with the 70/30 principle in mind: 70 per cent plant-based ingredients and 30 per cent animal-protein and fresh, seasonal, immune-boosting ingredients. Try the Medicinal Mushroom Chowder, a delicious blend of reishi, shiitake, and maitake mushrooms for a deep, earthy flavour.

This chowder is packed with nutty farro, adding a satisfying chew and wholesome fibre. It’s filling while still leaving room for dessert. Fun facts: mushrooms offer immune support and anti-inflammatory properties; farro, fibre and protein; and garlic contains powerful antioxidant properties and can help lower blood pressure. Plus, the chic dining room offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean for calming scenery as you tuck into the nutritious menu.

LALA is Amrit’s lobby lounge and bar where mixologists use healthy ingredients to create mocktails and cocktails by night. And there’s something to look forward to as well: Ayre, Amrit’s entirely vegan and ayurvedic-focused restaurant and Taaza, the resort’s beachside restaurant, are both set to open soon.

The Spa

Serenity seekers, fitness enthusiasts, the wellness-obsessed and those who want the latest and greatest, state-of-the-art, medical and aesthetic technology will all find the Amrit Spa (Florida’s largest) delightful. The vibe is modern and sleek, reminiscent of Europe’s many thermal healing spas. Facilities within the spa include the Aayush, Florida’s first and only indoor-outdoor hydrothermal water therapy circuit; a Personal Wellness Support System (PWSS), a proprietary web-based platform designed to further customise guests’ experiences, personal spa escorts, and one of the few hammams in the area.

The spa uses a combination of European, Chinese and Indian wellness traditions and techniques, and has also collaborated with board-certified physicians and medical practitioners to offer integrated health assessments and wellness services. Guests can book sessions with a trichologist, have a medical grade facial or body treatment, or book an IV infusion from a vast menu. A hyperbaric chamber, infrared light bed, and dry floating bed all add to the futuristic wellness experience. Of the 25 treatment rooms, 12 include in-room showers; two are deluxe couples suites with private steam showers and ocean views, and one is a dedicated Thai massage room.

The Little Extras

The resort’s fitness and mindfulness pillars can be found in its extensive yoga options, which focus on meditation and breath work and are curated by globally renowned wellness leaders. With several oceanfront indoor and outdoor yoga rooms, and terraces overlooking the Aayush (water therapy circuit) and Zen garden, Amrit offers fitness classes throughout the day, including morning meditation and restorative yoga; afternoon vinyasa, hatha and power yoga; and evening yoga nidra and sound bath meditation. All classes are free for hotel guests and the schedule changes weekly. You’ll find a chic yoga mat in your room to tote to class and if you forget it, there are plenty of mats, blankets, pillows and other yoga and meditation accessories on-site.

The To-Do List

While you’ll probably want to spend most of your stay at the spa, on the beach or poolside, there are some peaceful attractions nearby, such as snorkelling at an 800-foot artificial reef with 600 tons of rock boulders at Phil Foster Memorial Park. It is also a great spot to try watersports or start the Palm Beaches’ Snorkel trail, and is located just a four-minute drive from Amrit Ocean Resort. Also, located on the north side of Singer Island, and just a six-minute drive from Amrit, John D. MacArthur Beach State Park offers walking and biking on serene nature trails.
