Rooftop films and tennis season have arrived. That means we are truly in summer season.
This is one hotel that is worth booking (Londoners and visitors alike), who doesn’t love finding a new favourite Italian restaurant, and for that forever fresh, baby-skin glow, add this to your basket for endless compliments about your glowing skin. This is what we’re loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.
In a cool part of East London, The Zetter Clerkenwell is a well thought-out, elegant, and slightly eccentric boutique hotel, providing a stylish base to explore this pocket of London. Situated in one of London’s most historic areas, its not only endless stories that you can steep yourself into, you have nearby Smithfield Market and Exmouth Market, as well as some of the finest Michelin-starred restaurants in London to indulge in. (Plus nearby Farringdon Station means access with the Elizabeth Line to quite literally everywhere in London in moments.) This is the kind of place that welcomes you like a home – there’s no formal check-in desk, and the food and beverage offering is comforting yet utterly captivating. Its owners were restaurateurs before they were hoteliers, and the care is apparent in the cocktail lounge. The new menu unveiled Murder at The Zetter!, an interactive, newspaper-inspired cocktail menu that immerses guests in a thrilling ‘whodunit’. But it’s the character of the interiors and the location that makes this property a very interesting place to choose as your London resting spot.
Every neighbourhood deserves a perfect local Italian restaurant befitting of the area it stands in. For the past 50-plus years, the well-heeled residents of Knightsbridge have flocked to Sale e Pepe for generous bowls of pasta, risotto and tiramisu in a white table cloth environment buzzing with Italian staff. It’s a destination that has attracted not only locals, but also star visitors from Frank Sinatra and Priscilla Presley to Roger Moore and Diana Ross; whether you’re celebrity royalty or not, Sale e Pepe has always been known for its warm welcome and hearty, lovingly made cuisine. In 2024 it was refurbished and out went the marble floor and in went a plush carpet, dark walls and a decor inspired by Milanese townhouses. The aesthetic might have changed but the ethos remains the same – elevated, well-made Italian food served with a dose of conviviality. The portions are as sizeable as they ever were, which is a relief because you will want as much of the Paccheri alla Vodka and ragu as your stomach will hold. The Gamberi Scottati with Amalfi prawns is equally divine and the beef carpaccio as light and flavoursome as you could hope for. We ate so much the only dessert we could muster was affogato, the perfect finale. Most of us won’t treat Sale e Pepe with the same relaxed approach as we would our own local Italian, but that’s not really the point. It’s somewhere to come for a special treat and where you will be treated, as is tradition there, like royalty. – Ella Alexander.
As June kicks off, this means we also start thinking of tennis season. Today, Antler launches a new collection, designed to celebrate the nostalgic charm of a quintessential British summertime. The new capsule introduces bags and accessories to complement the broader travel collection bringing a breezy, modern British spirit with sport-inspired silhouettes like the Tennis Racket Cover and Reversible Tote Bag that look as at home on the court as they do in the city. Pieces includes the Tennis Racket Cover (£90), Detachable Sunglasses Pouch (£50), and the Reversible Tote Bag (£90), in monochromatic elements of cream and black, paired with the signature Antler Green colourway echoing the sharp lines of traditional lawn attire.
Rooftop Film Club, London’s original outdoor cinema in the sky, has released its programme of films and events for the month at the sky-high Bussey Building, Peckham, and at East London’s Roof East, Stratford. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the warmer months with a rooftop romance, a cult classic, or a scary summer screening, there’s something for everyone, including families with certain Saturdays at the Stratford venue offering a 90s Kids Club with matinees including Babe, The Parent Trap and Toy Story. Alongside the film club, the Rooftop Book Club returns on 19th June for a sky-high Hunger Games themed evening, joined by the book lovers at London Girls Book Club. The evening will start off with a chilled and chatty book club, followed by a screening of the film. Set against spectacular 360-degree city views, there’s no better place to catch a movie under the sunset whilst enjoying food and drink delivered directly to your seat.
Healthy glowing skin is something we all strive for. And while a good diet and hydration is key, the correct product line can help us along the way. All skincare fanatics know that it’s important to change up your regime with each new season (just ask our Wellness Director Becki Murray), as changing weather and temperatures means your skin usually needs different things. To achieve that “just-back-from-the-spa glow” that your skin always seems to have following a facial, look to spa-inspired skincare brand Germaine de Cappucini. They’ve launched TIMEXPERT WRINK·LESS, the latest range developed to prevent and correct the signs of skin aging. This is not about anti-aging, its about restoring texture. The range includes Pro-Collagen Serum, Pro-Collagen Eyes and Lips, Pro-Collagen Cream, and Pro-Collagen SPF 30 Day Cream in both Soft and Rich consistency. Each product is scented with a luxurious combination of rose, gooseberry, bergamot, amber and jasmine to create an indulgent spa-grade experience at home. And while it’s worth giving a product range time to really see effective results, this range has prompted the question, “Did you have a facial? You’re glowing!”
