The Beauty Edit

What CF's Beauty Director Is Shopping This June

With a host of new beauty launches passing across her desk each month, Citizen Femme’s beauty director Becki Murray has identified the makeup, skincare and fragrance products that are actually worth adding to your routine.

Her pick of June’s best beauty launches will help to kickstart your summer beautification (regardless of what the weather has in mind). From Dior’s covetable travel-friendly skincare to Nars’ instant sunshine palette, these are the beauty launches that our beauty director recommends this June.

THE TRAVEL BALM

Travel-friendly skincare has never been chicer. Dior's classic baume (now in this collectible limited edition case) adds a little luxury to the act of keeping hands, lips and other dry patches smooth and hydrated, with its lightweight blend of nourishing oils. I love to use it on the plane to avoid the recycled air stealing my skin's hydration.

THE FRESH CANDLE

Happy 20th birthday Bamford! And, to celebrate the brand has given us a present – which just happens to also be my top gift recommendation for any summer birthdays you might have coming up. The four new candles, my favourite being the Classic Geranium, are fresh and floral, filling your home instantly with aromas that help you escape to a busy greenhouse wherever you are in the world.

THE GLOSSY LIP

'The glossy lip colour of your dreams' – those were the reviews straight out of the gate when French makeup artist Violette Serrat revealed her Lip Nectar lip stains. Long-lasting in both colour and shine – without stickiness – the shades will instantly upgrade your lipstick game, whether worn alone or over a defining lip pencil.

Beauty insiders are already predicting that Violette’s lip stain is going to be a makeup essential this summer.

THE EYE PATCHES

Do not travel without these this summer – they will save your puffy eyes – and due to the iconic Dolce & Gabanna design, you'll look good doing it too. Packed with coffee extract that is designed to 'wake up' sleepy eyes, alongside firming Adenosine, pop the patches on at the end of long-haul flights, and you'll look super fresh going through passport control.

THE DAY SERUM

Bioeffect's original EGF serum kickstarted the buzz around growth factors – aka proteins that can help stimulate collagen and elastin production (what keeps your skin plump and smooth). This day version is perfect for anyone who loves one-and-done summer skincare formulas. The gel-like texture absorbs quickly and it also contains panthenol and hyaluronic acid for an all-important hydration hit.

THE HIGHLIGHTER

Like instant sunshine in a compact, Nars’ range of blush, bronze and highlighter palettes (available in four tones) is the instant lift your skin needs – both to reflect the sun on your travels, and when you are aiming to fake a holiday glow. Plus, I love the playful packaging, inspired by the striking umbrellas in the seaside town of Biarritz.

Instant sunshine in a palette, Nars’ compact is a glow-up for your complexion.

THE HYDRATOR

Now with double the bubbles, Chanel's Hydra serum delivers even more hydration – making it perfect for drier, sun-soaked skin in need of a refresh. The microfluidic technology sees hyaluronic acid delivered quickly and more deeply into your skin, with soothing white camellia on hand as well. In my opinion, it is a must-have in every summer skincare case.

THE INSTANT GLOW

Dull skin isn't just about colour – it’s also about dull, dry patches of skin. Dr Dennis Gross' latest innovation helps you solve both, for an instant faux glow. A supercharged version of the brand's classic exfoliating pads that make light work of removing dead skin, these sheets also deliver a natural-looking tan in just two hours and can be quickly wiped across your face and body.

Exfoliate and tan your face and body in just one quick step with Dr Dennis Gross’ latest innovation.

THE SUMMER SPRITZ

Escape to the beauty and relaxation of Lake Como without even packing a suitcase, with Jo Loves latest scent – a classic citrus I already can't get enough of. With a full burst of zesty lemon that, fun fact, projects more on warm, sun-kissed skin, the scent is given even more freshness with the addition of basil. It has all the lightness and frivolity that makes a great summer spritz.

THE HAND CREAM

The packaging alone made me want to add Guerlain's new hand cream to my shopping basket – and the formula inside doesn't disappoint either. Non-sticky and fast-absorbing, the hero ingredient, sustainably-sourced beeswax, delivers really long-lasting moisturisation, with the added benefit of a gorgeous rose scent too. You won't need to apply it more than once a day – but trust me, you'll want to.
