Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel: A Sophisticated Sanctuary In The Heart Of The Island

Far from the thumping beach clubs and glittering nightlife that often define Ibiza, there’s a quieter, more grounded version of the island waiting to be discovered.

Located within the fragrant orange groves and rolling hills on the northeast of the island, Atzaró Agroturismo Hotel offers a soulful, design-led escape for those who come to the White Isle seeking serenity over scene. This is not a hotel you visit once: it’s the kind of place that quietly embeds itself into your memory, calling you back the next time life feels too noisy. For travellers seeking authenticity, beauty, and a connection to the island’s slower pace – this is the Ibiza you’ve been waiting for.

Plus, this summer, Ottolenghi – a name that bears no need for introduction – will host an exclusive one-night-only dining evening (2 August 2025), serving up a five-course menu with ingredients from the hotel’s three-hectare organic vegetable garden. Welcome to the other side of Ibiza…

The Vibe

Spread across an impressive 13-hectare estate born from a 300-year-old Finca, the hotel seamlessly blends the rustic charm of traditional living with a refined sense of luxury and harmony. Within its natural surroundings you’ll find manicured Mediterranean gardens, centuries-old olive trees, and a working organic farm — all of which feed directly into the experience here. This isn’t a hotel trying to impersonate the island’s essence; it is the island, distilled. Design-wise, it’s a masterclass in balance. The interiors marry sleek, modern lines with hand-carved wood, terracotta tones, and subtle North African touches that nod to Ibiza’s bohemian roots. It’s elegant without being sterile— luxurious, but with soul. Every space feels intentionally curated, from the serene spa to the low-lit courtyards scattered with jasmine.

The Rooms

Rustic chic is probably the best way to describe the bedrooms here – with emphasis on the chic. Think wooden shuttered doors, four-poster beds slung with draped white canopies, terracotta tiled floors and locally inspired artwork to tie everything together. Our room, set just above the main house, was a peaceful refuge. Its sun terrace became a daily ritual spot – morning coffee, sundowners, and quiet stargazing. Whether you’re in a suite with a private plunge pool or a tucked-away garden room, there’s a real sense of privacy here, making it an ideal hideout for couples or solo travellers seeking clarity and calm.

The Food + Drink

The hotel’s garden-to-plate ethos isn’t just a marketing line; the produce grown onsite shows up on your plate in vibrant, seasonal dishes – whether at the finca restaurant La Veranda, or the summer-only garden restaurant, The Orange Tree (open each night throughout July and August). Both serve farm-to-fork dishes with ingredients sourced from the on-site vegetable garden or from local suppliers. The Mediterranean menu leans light and flavourful – freshly caught fish, grilled vegetables and herbaceous salads with thoughtful plating – such as in the grilled octopus dish served with black rice and smoked paprika aioli, or the pasta with black trumpet mushrooms, truffle and parmesan. Word to the wise: don’t miss the Padron peppers or the pistachio and white chocolate fondant served with coconut ice cream, either.

One afternoon, we ventured to Atzaró Beach, the hotel’s sister restaurant and beach club in Cala Nova, for lunch. With the sea just metres away and a breeze coming off the water, we feasted on fresh seafood and watermelon salads with the palest of rosé. Also worth venturing out to: Aubergine by Atzaró, a farm-to-table restaurant in the heart of Ibiza’s countryside. Again, everything here is made with the freshest of produce – so much so that it is truly hard to choose from the menu, but you can see why it is famed as one of the island’s best restaurants.

Wellness

Wellness takes centre stage, and the calendar is jam-packed with all manner of Pilates and yoga – Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, somatic and more. Classes take place at the spa daily, with other therapies – such as the myofascial release or a Himalayan soundbath taking place from time to time, too. The natural spa is open-air and surrounded by greenery, offering yoga pavilions, a Balinese-style relaxation area, and a 43-metre-long saltwater pool framed by palms and day beds amongst the olive groves. Morning yoga classes in the shade of the olive trees truly sets the tone for the entire day – unhurried, grounded, and in sync with the island’s natural rhythm, while the full-body massages use locally sourced rose oils and are unrushed, deeply intuitive, and set to the gentle hum of the natural surroundings.

The Little Extras

What truly defines this hotel is its service: warm, intuitive, and quietly exceptional. Staff strike that rare balance between professional and personal, with recommendations that go beyond the usual. There’s a want and a willingness to tailor your stay to your rhythm – whether that’s securing a boat to Formentera or pointing you toward the island’s best-kept secret beaches.

The To-Do List

Back at the spa, day experiences are offered and might comprise use of the pool, sauna, hammam, ice bath and gym alongside yoga and wellness classes and a full-body massage or facial. As evening approaches, head to the outdoor cinema, which takes place each Tuesday and Thursday throughout July and August, within the hotel’s vegetable garden (yes, really!). Summer 2025 will see showings including La La Land (8 July), Saturday Night Fever (17 July) and Bohemian Rhapsody (5 August) among many others, before closing for the season with Thelma and Louise (28 August). Rumour has it that the vegetable garden will also play host to evening barbecues over the summer months, and for more seasonal socialising, head to the Open Air Lounge for cocktails, tapas and live music.

If you happen to visit over 2 August 2025 (or perhaps schedule your visit around this), be sure to book a seat at the table for Yotam Ottolenghi’s one-night-only appearance at the hotel, where he’ll be curating a five-course, sharing-style dinner. Taking place in the Atzuró Vegetable Garden – with much of the menu comprising ingredients picked from it too – tickets cost €245 per person and include dinner plus live music and entertainment, a signed copy of Yotam’s newest cookbook and the chance to ask him for foodie tips directly. The evening begins at 8pm – make your reservation here.
