What CF's Beauty Director Is Shopping This July

With a host of new products passing across her desk each month, Citizen Femme’s beauty director Becki Murray reveals the July beauty launches that are actually worth adding to your routine.

With the weather heating up right now, so too are the options for your beauty routine, including Jo Malone’s ‘smells like summer’ spritz and the affordable cleanser that is sneaking into every beauty insider’s must-haves. So, wherever your summer adventures may be taking you this month, these are the July beauty launches that our beauty director recommends.

THE SUMMER SPRITZ

Gourmands are having a big moment in fragrance right now, and it really was love at first spritz when I first tried this fragrance! I just can't help spraying it – and I think you'll be equally hooked. Basically, it is totally the right side of fruity for summer, with a burst of berries – red, black and the raspberry of its name – balanced with green undertones and white musk for a scent that's fresh and fun but definitely not too childish. Perfect for lazy days in the sunshine.

THE CLEANSER

Proof that you don’t need to break the bank to get a really good cleanser in your routine, Cetaphil’s exfoliating SA cleanser is a two-in-one powerhouse. Not only does it provide a deep, quick clean for your skin, it also features a powerful blend of exfoliating acids, including salicylic acid and mandelic acid, to simultaneously smooth away rough and bumpy skin in a flash.

THE HAIRDRYER

Thought the Dyson Airwrap couldn’t get more iconic? Think again! The new Airwrap Co-anda2x has twice the air pressure for better curling, faster drying and straighter styles. It also contains high-tech sensors for superior styling for all hair types with no heat damage, and is smaller and lighter so you don’t struggle with that annoying arm ache when styling your full head of hair. From a revamped hairdryer to the affordable cleanser you shouldn’t be without this summer, July is looking very beautiful.

THE GLOSSY LIP

I think I’ve found my favourite summer lip balm! This one from Valentino is so nourishing on your lips, with a buttery soft texture, powered by a lightweight blend of oils, to give moisture that lasts even when facing dry environments (like planes) and air conditioning. The shades – my favourite is Rose in the Woods – also adapt to your lip pH so you get a slightly personalised colour.

THE SPA-IN-A-JAR

Like a facial in a jar, don’t let your next at-home spa day or small moment of self care be without La Mer’s latest mask. The firming formula delivers a complex of marine ingredients to restore a bouncy feel to your complexion. You also don’t have to worry about washing it off as it's cleverly designed to be massaged into your skin after 10 minutes (making the whole process feel extra indulgent).

THE CANDLE (LID)

Diptyque’s new candle lids are now beautiful ornaments as well as cases for the scents, so I’ve already rushed to gift them to my friends and family this summer. The delicate glass-blown flowers (a first for the brand) were created in collaboration with Italian master glass-blower Massimo Lunardon, and they have the additional benefit of helping prolong the scent of your candle.

THE TONER

Heard of skin ‘silking’ yet? You are going to this summer! And this new product from Bubble will help you achieve it. The milky toner treatment – powered by plant-based ceramides, hyaluronic acid and soothing botanicals – wraps your skin in a featherlight, velvety finish that calms, restores, and strengthens without that greasy or sticky feeling.

Nourish your skin this July with lightweight products that pack a punch for all price points, from Bubble to La Mer.

THE HIGHLIGHTER

Trinny London is fast becoming one of my favourite brands for easy yet effective makeup solutions that look great even when getting ready in a hurry (something I’m rather guilty of doing!). This new highlighter is now my wake-up-fast solution. It’s pretty when worn alone but I love it mixed into moisturiser or foundation for a flattering glossy tint that makes your skin look lit-from-within.

THE RECHARGED CREAM

Dubbed 'the most requested product ever' by Clinique customers, the brand's iconic moisturiser has had an upgrade – and it is perfect for the summer! The classic cream has been supercharged with SPF 50, boosting your sun protection within a time-saving, one-and-done product that still reigns supreme when it comes to deep and long-lasting hydration too.

THE ELIXIR

First up, I'll admit, this product is an investment, but what an investment in your skin it is. Powered by peptides – a hero ingredient for fine lines and overall skin quality – as well as the brand's patented TFC8® molecule, the ultra-concentrated elixir has been shown to visibly improve fine lines, tone and texture, for a more lifted, smooth, youthful-looking complexion. No wonder so many beauty insiders are totally hooked on it.
