Including new restaurants to try, transitional staples to shop, beauty products for your basket, and a whole host of events to attend, these are some of the top things to do in September 2025.
September is here, the start of a new, busy autumnal chapter marked by full calendars, cooler evenings, restaurant openings, theatre, weekends away, and more.
This is all the inspiration you need to welcome September in style.

SPEAK At PURE Marrakech, on stage with Intrepid Travel. I’ll be wearing this very elegant and weather-suited kaftan. While there, I’ll be checking out Royal Mansour Marrakech and IZZA. DO With children back to school, I have more opportunity to stay fit and I’m really enjoying hot yoga sessions at Heartcore. WEAR That also means treating myself to some new Adanola leggings. SEE I’m a huge fan of Susan Sarandon so have already booked to see Mary Page Marlowe at The Old Vic. VISIT Marylebone is my favourite neighbourhood in London so I’ll be enjoying “A Day On The Lane” when they pedestrianise the street, the perfect way to enjoy all the shops and vendors. DASH AROUND TOWN In these gorgeous black suede flats from Jennifer Chamandi.

VISIT More Greek islands, it’s still summer here and I’ll be making the most of it. I’ve planned trips to Kimolos, and (back to) Santorini. Need anymore encouragement to do the same? Take a read through our guide to the Greek islands for 2025. STAY At The Windmill and The Elephant Beach House in Kimolos (the second is a converted sirma, or fisherman’s house), and at Magma Resort in Santorini, on the peaceful side of the island – away from the famous caldera). BUY Summer-through-autumn pieces for my wardrobe; I’m browsing Greece-based designers The Jerkins, SunsetGo and Mallory The Label for inspiration. EAT At Carbone, Mayfair, which opens later this month. I’ll be booking a table on my next visit to London. READ Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, it’s the first novel she’s published in 11 years and made the Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist. I’ve read and loved some of her previous books (Purple Hibiscus, 2003 and Americanah, 2013) so am looking forward to this one.

VISIT China for the very first time! I’m going slightly off the well-trodden path and will be staying at the breathtaking Banyan Tree Ringha, situated high in the Himalayas. The area in Shangri-La has been dubbed one of the most peaceful spots in the world. EAT At award-winning chef Adam Handling’s Old Windsor outpost, The Loch & The Tyne. Located not far from where the Magna Carta was signed, the modern take on ‘pub grub’ is deliciously seasonal (and the menu includes brilliant gluten-free fish and chips!). There’s a free-to-hire private dining area for larger groups too. BUY A pair of Shozk OpenRun Pro2 wireless headphones. My big ultra marathon is just around the corner and I’ve found listening to music with high-quality sound gets me through the struggle zones. DRINK ‘Mind-boosting’ wellness drinks are a trend I’m predicting to explode in popularity in the run up to the festive season. I’m planning to try replacing my morning coffee with Catalyse’s Energy Blend, a green tea and vanilla-flavoured sparkling water, for a more natural ‘buzz’. ENJOY A fragrant escape to a Sunday in Rio: Sol de Janeiro’s limited edition Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist is sweet, spicy and musky – just what you need if the herald of autumn is already making you miss summer.

SEE This September I’ve got not just one but two great concerts in the diary. First up Coldplay and then later in the month Oasis. I’ll be digging out some old nineties kit for the latter, and reliving my teenage years! STAY Next month my husband and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary so we are off to Florence (one of our favourite cities) to mark the occasion. We’re staying at the gorgeous The Place Firenze and I can’t wait. SHOP The minute the calendar flips to September I love a bit of new season shopping. So far I’ve bought this oversized leather jacket from Reiss, these loafers from Reformation and this cardigan from Cos. I’m also eyeing up this new Prada bag. VISIT Once the kids go back to school I turn my attention to sprucing up my home for autumn, decorating a few rooms and adding some new accessories, so I’m planning to pop into Focus at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour (15-19 September) for some inspiration and the Ardingly Antiques Fair (2-3 September) to pick up some interesting treasures. WATCH The new Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie. I adored that series so can’t wait for an autumn trip to the cinema to see how it all ends. LISTEN To the New Chapters Podcast hosted by my old friend TV presenter Isabel Webster. She has an amazing line up of fantastic, inspiring women discussing the moments that defined their journey and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

EAT I recently had the most incredible anniversary meal at Woven by Adam Smith at Coworth Park and have been waxing lyrical about it ever since. The service and food are both equally spoiling, making for one of the loveliest evenings I’ve had in such a long time and the perfect place for celebrating a special occasion. The snacks and small bites alone are a thing of wonder – I didn’t know I liked jellied eel, until now! VISIT If you’re looking for a special pit-stop in London during London Fashion Week, The Garden at Corinthia is a wonderful lunch spot to dine al fresco. Get the tuna tartare, which they wheel to the table and make-to-taste right in front of you. STYLE I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my wardrobe and I’m definitely in need of a wardrobe detox – for the chicest overhaul and styling concierge, look to The Styled By Collective, a tech-savvy service from the States that’s just landed here in the UK. STAY At The Dolder Grand in Zurich, where the hotel is celebrating a decade of The Epicure with a culinary gathering of the gourmet elite taking place from 9–14 September. One for foodies to bookmark. BUY Anything from Aussie label Dissh, which is now stocked in Selfridges. Their summer dresses have probably been seen all over your Instagram feed, but their knitwear and jackets are equally great. I’m coveting the Hendrix suede jacket for those transitional months as well as this really great oversized knit.

STAY I’m heading to Amsterdam for a friend’s wedding this month, staying at a hotel recommended by multiple people, Sir Albert in the De Pijp district. It looks well designed, but not prohibitively expensive – I’ll let you know if it’s worth trying. SHOP I’m a big fan of renting dresses for weddings, so I’m relying on the services of By Rotation. Its pop-up store in Mayfair, open now until the end of the year, allows you to try before you hire, which makes the process so much easier. BUY With autumn now upon us, I have just invested in a new pair of leather ballet pumps from Hush – I spied them at the brand’s press day earlier this summer, and loved the softness of the leather and the unexpected, asymmetric square-toe. They’ll be perfect for buzzing round the city during London Fashion Week. VISIT It’s a big month for the V&A this month – the V&A East Storehouse opens its long-anticipated David Bowie Centre on 13 September, a workspace that houses the world’s largest collection dedicated to his life and music and, as a huge Bowie fan, I can’t wait to visit. The V&A’s Kensington museum unveils its blockbuster Marie Antoinette exhibition, another one I’m making a beeline for.

The weather’s cooling down (finally) and I’m leaning all the way into transitional season energy. BUY I’m not a fan of dressing for summer, so I’m more than ready to start shopping for the new season. On the top of my list is this Zara leather bomber jacket – ideal for that awkward not-quite-cold-yet stage. VISIT Black on the Square is back at Trafalgar Square this Saturday 6 September. It’s a celebration of Black culture, creativity and community, with food, music, workshops and more. A beautiful day out if you’re in the city. WATCH From Dirty Dancing and The Hunger Games to Mission: Impossible, catch the final open-air cinema screenings at Canada Square Park in Canary Wharf before the season ends. EAT Dinner at Gilgamesh is perfect for a night out in the city – whether it’s a date or dinner with the girls. The vibe is intimate but fun and the food is great. BUY The AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum – one of the few things that actually helps my dark spots without drying me out or causing breakouts.

BUY These amazing beads from Vertigo exclusively at Moda Operandi – paired with a white shirt they will add such a unique touch to an outfit. WEAR The Kick Pant from High Sport is slowly becoming an iconic piece – comfy and chic, I have my eye on this red pair to wear with ballet flats and a chunky knit. BOOK A staycation via Unique Homestays, I have been using this platform to book beautiful UK holiday getaways. They have a great curation. USE The Champo leave-in perfecting cream. I really love it to smooth flyaways and keep hair shiny all day. I love the packaging as well – and my kids love the smell! STAY Half term is already on my mind and I might escape to The Newt in Somerset again. It’s one of my favourite UK hotels and it has so much for children to do too.

The fervent buzz that comes with the beginning of September is hard to beat. In London, I’ll WATCH We Should Have Never Walked On The Moon as Rambert and the National Ballet of Marseille join forces to take over the Southbank Centre with DJs, set installations, and dance across 3 to 6 September. This performance is unique as the audience is invited to roam freely across the Royal Festival Hall (and beyond – even backstage), reconfiguring the traditional ways we go to the theatre. SHOP I’m a big fan of cosmetic packaging that is designed to keep and refill – for both environmental and aesthetic reasons – and so am loving Dries Van Noten’s perfume bottles, especially the nomadic set and case. STAY Scotland’s historic Penicuik Estate is welcoming the opening of the new Penicuik House hotel this autumn, carefully restored over two years in collaboration with interior designer Charles Orchard, which I’m excited to review. VISIT I’m also looking forward to a weekend in Paris, a city I used to live in and jump at the chance to go back to whenever I can. Parisians do it all best. READ I’d love to read Assouline’s new book Brigitte Bardot: Intimate spotlighting Ghislain Dussart’s candid portraits of the model, actress, and animal activist, including rare and never-before-published photographs.
