When fashion heavyweights Chloé, Prada and Alaïa all showcase the same type of look, you know you’re headed for a big trend. For autumn/winter 2025, countless fashion houses included faux fur in their collections, making it one of the most desirable coats of the season. Whether fuzzy and fluffy or sleek and 90s-inspired, it’s fast become a favourite with the street-style set and a welcome addition to our cold-weather travel plans. On the plane, a faux fur coat doubles as the cosiest of blankets or pillows and, once we’ve reached our destination, it’s the most versatile fast-track to glamour. Here, we round-up the best in show.
The rise of faux fur has been linked to boom boom style, a flashy, FUN-LOVING AESTHETIC that arrived earlier this year, and also the mob wife look, characterised by big hair, big coats and even bigger jewels. All of this is a reaction to the pervasive quiet luxury trend, which has dominated fashion for years. This season, THE BOLDER THE BETTER when it comes to faux fur. We’re most excited by OVERSIZED, YETI-LIKE INCARNATIONS, worn with jeans by day or with slinky dresses and heels by night – think Kate Moss and Margot Tenenbaum.Â
There are plenty of options in both the luxury space and on the high-street. The Frankie Shop is a go-to for longline styles in various shades, and Max Mara and Rotate do more classic styles with old-school glamour. For budget-friendly styles, make a beeline for M&S’ buzzy Mongolian style in snow white.Â
