In this week’s Citizen Femme Hotlist, art isn’t just something we admire, it’s how we dress, to what we taste, to how we reimagine our daily rituals. We’re turning up the volume on expression.
We highlight pieces that beg to be worn, flavours that feel like paintings, and creative rituals meant to redesign the life you’re already living. And in the spirit of art, catch one of my favourite flicks to celebrate the launch of this fabulous new cookbook. This is what we’re loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.
As the lights begin to shimmer for the start of Diwali, theres only one brand we have on our lips (and ears, necks and wrists). Enter Anayah Jewellery, a brand that marries South Asian legacy with contemporary elegance. Founded by Nilofar Jaques, rooted in London with craftsmanship in India, Anayah offers a bridge between both of her heritages where she brings classic Indian designs like kundan, gemstone inlays, and hand-setting into fresh, wearable forms using semi-precious stones. The Awakening collection, for example, uses bold silhouettes in 18K gold and jewel tones—emerald doublets, pearl chokers, striking geometric structures. The most recent collection Rouge Lagoon, sets the tone for the festive season with a celebration of contrasts and statement design. The collection uses two striking new colourways: a vivid Paraiba blue and a vibrant rouge pink, set against the depth of black cubic zirconia. Aligning with the resurgence of statement pendant necklaces, these are pieces that don’t just accessorise, but define a look. So whether its a statement choker in radiant gem tones or a delicate kundan pendant, for Diwali, a wedding, a party or stepping into a moment you want to feel seen, Anayah brings a nuanced brilliance to celebrate the festivals of today and all your special evenings ahead.
As we celebrate Frieze in London, Locatelli at the National Gallery invites you to step into the world of Caravaggio for a once-in-a-lifetime evening of art and gastronomy. This Friday 17 October, the restaurant hosts a special tasting menu, inspired by Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus, one of the National Gallery’s most treasured works. This special dinner will bring the drama and symbolism of the painting to life through a bespoke menu created by Giorgio Locatelli. The four-course dinner (accompanied with wines from Florentine winery, Antinori) will draw upon the theatricality and atmosphere of the Italian Baroque masterpiece, capturing Caravaggio’s distinctive intensity and chiaroscuro effect, alongside the season’s finest produce. The evening kicks off at 6:30pm with a glass of sparkling Franciacorta as you are welcomed into the Sainsbury Wing with a viewing of Caravaggio’s masterpiece, just moments away from where the dinner will be served, accompanied by one of the Gallery’s art historians. The evening continues with a Caravaggio Tour with a National Gallery art historian, exploring themes of revelation, transformation, and the power of light and shadow. Finally, you’re treated to a theatrical dining experience where canvas meets kitchen at the seated dinner.
The Umbrella Workshop, the experimental bar from the group behind The Sun Tavern and Discount Suit Company, will be running an exclusive menu of guest cocktails from some of Europe’s hottest bars throughout London Cocktail Week (9-19 October). Located on a cobbled lane just off Boundary Street (Shoreditch) and housed in a 19th century atelier’s workshop, the 12-seat Umbrella Workshop includes a custom bar made from 500 year old reclaimed wood, set against an impressive, floor to ceiling display of spirits – including locally made and independent brands as well as bartender favourites and rare whiskies. Visitors are treated to a daily changing menu that acts as an incubator for their drinks development, with the most popular cocktails then appearing on the menus of Discount Suit Company and The Sun Tavern. If you don’t have the time to take in all of London Cocktail Week, you can pretty much do it in one night here. Try a Moscow Mule from Barcelona’s FOCO, Peanut Butter and Jelly Old Fashioned from Berlin’s top 50 bar Wax On, Raspberry Marg from London’s award winning Three Sheets, and Wigan Casino from The Umbrella Workshop.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 14th October, Everyman King’s Cross will host a special Diwali celebration to mark the launch of Indian 101: Real Indian Recipes Made Simple, the brand-new cookbook by Chef, Author and Founder of Hoppers restaurants Karan Gokani. The evening features an exclusive screening of the beloved Bollywood film The Lunchbox, where a lunch delivery mix-up sparks an unexpected connection. To bring the spirit of Diwali to life, Karan and the team at Everyman have created a nostalgic menu of cinema snacks inspired by the 90s and 00s movie theatres of India. Think Samosas, Vada Pav and Chilli Cheese Fries. Guests are encouraged to wear vibrant colours inspired by Diwali to bring the festive flair. Guests can also purchase signed copies of the cookbook before Karan introduces the film.
