London's Most Festive Stays: The Best Christmas Hotels In 2025

‘Tis the season to hang out in hotel lobbies for the festivities and decorations alone. The journey is enough to get you giddy, with glittering fairy lights that illuminate London’s city streets. These are the best Christmas hotels in London for 2025.

Even for a long-time Londoner, the intricate light displays never get old. It’s magical to look up and watch them light up Regent Street in the Christmas flurry. It’s even more of a joy to experience them inside the warmth of one of London’s many sparkling hotel lobbies, which come alive with festive cheer and inimitable displays you’ll gawp at in awe.

We’re talking towering Christmas trees decorated by local artists, literary-themed ornaments inspired by the likes of Jane Austen, and a whole host of thematic activities centred around the best time of the year.

This year, and as per usual, London is going all out with swish Christmas stays to make the most of the season. Whether you’re visiting London for a festive city break or eager to escape the inevitable curbside frenzy, these are the hotels going above and beyond to offer all-out festive immersion.

One Aldwych

It’s a rare treat to step back in time and discover Covent Garden’s rich literary history. This season, One Aldwych is making the most of its prime location by paying homage to Jane Austen’s favourite local haunts. As part of a dedicated festive package for two, guests are invited on a jolly weekend walking tour with the esteemed writer, historian and broadcaster, Dr. Matthew Green. Prepare to see a side to Covent Garden you’ve never seen before, including the very spot where Jane Austen wrote Northanger Abbey on Henrietta Street (look up to see the plaque) and some nondescript backstreets once frequented by the likes of John Dryden, Thomas De Quincey and many others. A short walk back brings you to an elaborate ribbon installation outside One Aldwych, and a hulking Christmas tree bedecked in passages from Jane Austen’s works. Take home an Austen-inspired silhouette cut-out of your own by the portrait artist, Charles Burns. He’ll be visiting on select Sundays throughout December during a laidback three-course brunch.

L'oscar

Inspired by London’s dandiest playwright, L’oscar knows a thing or two about high-society decadence. The lobby’s sumptuous Christmas decorations promise an ebullient start to your stay, spreading warmth in its festive gilded interiors. Built in 1903, the Grade-II listed building is the former headquarters of London’s Baptist Church, with exceptionally attentive service and opulent Jacques Garcia-designed suites. Restored marble fireplaces and oak-panelled walls only add to the interior’s cosy ambiance. Plus, the hotel is within walking distance of some of the best shops in the city. Christmas super-fans can opt for a dedicated festive stay with all the trimmings, which includes a welcome drink, two tickets to Winter Wonderland and a shopping concierge to guide you through London’s hidden boutique stores. After a spot of retail therapy, return to the warmth of L’oscar’s decked-out lobby for a festive afternoon tea underneath a seven-storey chandelier. Meanwhile, L’oscar’s elegant gift-wrapping service will be working behind the scenes. A scrumptious breakfast awaits the next morning.

Corinthia London

Corinthia London goes all out at Christmas, with a roster of festive-themed activities. This December, there will be a delightful daily Champagne hour to mark the occasion: listen out for the chime of the Five Gold Rings, then retreat to the hotel’s garden, which transforms into a cosy ski-chic hideaway. Elsewhere, the hotel completely transforms into an immersive winter wonderland, with flashes of gold in every corner and playful partridges that can be peeped from the Christmas treetop. To elevate the festive experience, Corinthia has a dedicated overnight stay to enhance the spirit of the season – ice-skating included. No trip to London at Christmas is complete without a few wobbly loops around the rink at Somerset House and Corinthia will provide a private transfer to whisk you there and back. For families, the team pulls out all the stops in their On the First Day of Christmas package, where little ones will get to meet Father Christmas while adults are treated to Laurent-Perrier Champagne.

The Goring

For the ultimate British Christmas experience, look to The Goring. This Belgravia hotel is always magical but come Christmas there’s simply no holding back. Its 103-year-old hallways are transformed into a festive retreat fit for royalty (Kate Middleton spent the night here before her 2011 wedding to Prince William). There’s an elaborate display of baubles and garlands in and around the lobby, with a colossal Christmas tree as high as the ceiling, but more spectacular still is The Goring’s dedicated Christmas Experience package – a seasonal special with a great deal of Christmas indulgence. Start with in-room Champagne upon arrival and feast on multi-course Michelin-starred meals on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The magic doesn’t end there though, as there’s the option to add a regal afternoon tea to the agenda – fresh-baked scones included – followed by a glass of mulled wine in front of a roaring fire.

Raffles London at The OWO

Christmas is always a sophisticated affair at Raffles London at The OWO, with a few playful Edwardian touches. On arrival, a bespoke gingerbread house takes centre stage in the courtyard to set the tone. Elsewhere, festive flourishes can be found in unexpected moments, including a Christmas carol-themed afternoon tea. On Christmas Day, Mauro Colagreco serves up a scintillating six-course banquet filled with festive recipes, such as spiced apple and pigeon ravioli, truffled scallop and mouth-watering pumpkin mince pies. As it’s Christmas, treat yourself to a restorative treatment at L’Atelier Guerlain – the hotel’s bijoux beauty boutique – followed by a Boxing Day blow dry at SALON64. You deserve it.

The Chelsea Townhouse

If Christmas shopping is a top priority, The Chelsea Townhouse offers doorstep access to the best shops in the city. Just moments from King’s Road and Sloane Square, the hotel is imbued with aristocratic splendour inside and out. Come Christmas, you’ll be greeted with sumptuous ornaments and warming festive recipes worth memorising. For those wishing to extend the celebration, the hotel has gone above and beyond to please hardcore Christmas enthusiasts, offering an ultra-sophisticated overnight stay for two. Soak up your suite’s old-world grandeur with a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Champagne on arrival, festive cocktails before dinner and a holiday-inspired afternoon tea at 11 Cadogan Gardens, about one minute away.

The Lanesborough

For a quintessential London Christmas, The Lanesborough’s over-the-top elegance ticks all the boxes. From the moment you walk through the hotel’s lofty entrance, the lobby’s effervescent Christmas spirit comes alive like an all-encompassing hug. The Christmas flurry of Hyde Park completely disappears, with all the grandeur ramped up and sprinkled with stardust. Let The Lanesborough do all the hosting for you this year with their Christmas in Residence festive package. It’s a treat to arrive in full knowledge that your itinerary’s taken care of. There’s an emphasis on feasting, including an exquisite five-course Christmas Day lunch at The Lanesborough Grill, crafted by executive chef, Shay Cooper. Stays also include a beautifully appointed room or suite, a personally decorated Christmas tree and an array of thoughtful touches throughout. Children staying over Christmas at The Lanesborough will receive a personalised visit from Father Christmas, with gifts delivered directly to the suite. Adults will be tempted by The Lanesborough Club & Spa for a Boxing Day dip.

The Peninsula

Guests of all ages will revel in The Peninsula’s annual Christmas celebrations, which get bigger, better and more elaborate every year. Festive screenings will return for the season from 13 to 25 December, where classic holiday favourites are played on the big screen. From the 23 to 25 December, younger guests will also be invited to meet Father Christmas himself. A ‘Festive Stay at The Peninsula London’ amps the celebratory mood up a notch, with breakfast and seasonal afternoon tea for two, jolly in-room amenities, plus the perks of flexible check-in and check-out. The Peninsula’s 25-metre pool hits just the spot in between festive film screenings and trips to the The Peninsula Sweet Shop. As this is The Peninsula, you can expect only the sleekest chauffeur-driven transfers to and from your favourite stores in and around Belgravia.

Meliá White House

Set in an original 1930s building on the fringes of Regent’s Park, Meliá White House has a whole roster of Christmas-themed activities on the agenda this season, from live carol performances to mince pie making. Expect stockings for all ages, with live jazz twice a week and an ornament decoration workshop. Those staying for the hotel’s ‘Regent’s Christmas’ package will be greeted by festive records carefully selected by the Chelsea-based jazz venue 606 Club, entry tickets to Winter Wonderland where you can feast on street food favourites, and access to the hotel’s The Level Lounge, which comes with endless sweet treats, an indulgent buffet and a made-to-order breakfast.

The Berkeley

Christmas at The Berkeley is so magical it’s likely to convert even the grumpiest of grinches with its overriding atmosphere of merriment. Check in and find yourself completely immersed in a haute-Christmas wonderland, where the usual Christmas chaos is completely removed. Arrive on Christmas Eve and begin with a trip to St Paul’s Parish Church, just moments away, welcoming guests for Midnight Mass by candlelight. Little ones can leave treats for Father Christmas and his entourage, and wake up to stockings bursting at the seams with goodies. Adults also have their fair share of fun, with a sprawling breakfast feast on Christmas Day, followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride through Belgravia. Later, Christmas lunch at The Emory’s abc kitchens (The Berkeley’s adjacent sister hotel) features a traditional festive menu, served family-style for all to enjoy.
