What To Do With Children In London This Weekend: 5-7 December

Deep in festivities, from Christmas carol shows to hot chocolate infused movie afternoons, festive street fun to journeys to the North Pole.

Even though the weather may draw you to stay in, get out and about with the kids and soak in the last few weeks of Festive fun.

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol

London’s beloved Prince Charles Cinema is putting on screenings of The Muppet Christmas Carol nearly every day throughout the month. As well as an overload of Muppets, they’ve got screenings of many other festive films, from Love Actually to The Holdovers to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Grab a hot chocolate and snuggle up with the kids in this very cosy cinema.

2. Regent Street Festive Fun

Regent Street goes traffic-free for the afternoon and evening, making it easy to get your fill of festive lights and get your Christmas shopping done. Several stores on the ‘Festive Mile’ will stay open later than usual, but there will be plenty of live music, roving street performers and refreshments stalls and three parked-up vintage London buses with a selfie bus, a disco bus, and a festive crafts bus.

Date: Saturday 6th from 2pm-9pm
Address: Regent Street, London

3.Elf the Musical

You could book Elf The Musical this weekend at the Aldwych Theatre. The show follows Buddy, a human raised as an elf, as he journeys from the North Pole to New York looking for his real family — filled with songs, laughs and holiday magic, perfect for kids (recommended for age 5+).

With a couple of shows around London this weekend, jump on board for a gentle, short show (about 45 mins) — ideal if you want a fun, low-intensity outing with toddlers who might struggle with a full theatre show.
