Eight New UK Spa Experiences To Try Right Now

Don’t book your next spa day without discovering our wellness director’s round-up of the best new spa experiences in the UK.

If your idea of self-care in 2026 involves more than a crowded steam room and a white robe, you’re in luck. Across the UK, a new generation of spa experiences is redefining what it means to truly unwind – blending innovative technology, design-led spaces and results-driven treatments. Discover the latest spa experiences to enhance your zen with eight of the hottest new spa offerings you won’t want to miss.

The Grand, York

Any hotel thinking of refurbishing their spa, take note: The Grand, York has done it perfectly. SubRosa is a total spa revamp that immediately invites you to exhale and unwind. Despite being underground, the space feels light, spacious, and effortlessly calm, with a gentle nod to its history as a railway company headquarters – including quirky touches like the original vault doors – while feeling completely fresh and modern. From the moment you arrive, the friendly, smiling staff make you feel at ease (and always keep you topped up with drinks), and the new facilities are excellent: a generous hydrotherapy pool with powerful bubbles is the clear centrepiece, while the sauna and steam experiences impress, particularly the invigorating lemongrass and menthol steam rooms, which deliver a deeply satisfying, sinus-clearing reset. But the new treatment menu is the true standout. In fact, SubRosa is the first spa in the North of England to offer MarocMaroc traditional Hammam rituals and SeaBody marine bioactive facial treatments, and is the first spa in the whole of the UK to have the Harmony Lounger, which allows you to relax pre-and-post-treatment with a feeling of zero gravity. That plus the attentive therapists and soft, plush robes make the whole experience feel truly luxurious.

Signature treatments

If you try only one treatment at SubRosa, make it the traditional Hammam experience — the spa’s signature ritual for a reason. Using traditional black soap and gentle exfoliation, it’s deeply cleansing, grounding, and restorative, leaving your skin silky smooth and your mind completely relaxed. It’s the perfect way to reset and feel utterly pampered from head to toe.

Cameron House, Loch Lomond

The view of Loch Lomond from Cameron House’s rooftop infinity pool has always been something special – and now, after a thoughtful £300,000 renovation to the spa as a whole (and a specific infinity pool refresh), it’s even more breathtaking. In fact, almost every corner of the already award-winning space has been thoughtfully revamped, with the all-weather indoor pool on the ground floor given a full facelift, making a dip even more irresistible, especially when the morning light pours through the windows. The hot tub areas have been upgraded so that soaking feels even more indulgent, and the hydrotherapy showers now have a playful twist, with LED-coloured lighting adding a subtle sensory element that makes every shower feel a little more special. Even the changing rooms feel more modern and relaxing, with the facilities on both levels redesigned with sleek showers and smart lockers, so getting ready feels effortless and fuss-free. What hasn’t changed though is the extremely high-quality nature of the treatments, which are especially great for sensitive skin, incorporating everything from aromatherapy to hot-stone massages, using leading brands including Espa and Made for Life Organics products.

Signature treatments

Incorporating breath work, full body massage, a calming rose quartz crystal massage and a scalp therapy, the Espa Inner Calm Massage is like an MOT for your body and mind. Personalised to where you specifically hold stress, it’s almost impossible to not fall into a peaceful slumber halfway through, but you won’t necessarily want to miss a moment of the pampering.

Coworth Park, Ascot

Coworth Park’s newly reimagined spa makes a stay at the hotel feel even more like a gentle, immersive retreat in the countryside and that’s why it’s one of our top-picks for spa day gifting. Nestled within 240 acres of rolling grounds and wildflower meadows, the spa has been redesigned to reflect its natural surroundings, which means more light-filled spaces, soft textures, and nature-inspired details that create an atmosphere of calm elegance. Responding to a growing appetite for thermal rituals from guests, the wet facilities now feature a poolside thermal experience, complete with a Finnish sauna, citrine-lined steam room, an invigorating snow shower, and eight refreshed treatment rooms – each named after Coworth Park’s diverse flora – offer a menu of bespoke therapies from botanical brands including ishga and Wildsmith. That’s not all. The treatments within them have been enhanced too, with a new 360-degree consultation process and personalised soundscapes to further your relaxation. And, if you don’t love simply relaxing on a lounger, the gym has also been expanded and now features the UK’s first Technogym Luxury Artis line. Plus, there’s plenty of opportunities to enjoy further wellness activities in the grounds, including guided woodland walks, open-air yoga, equestrian wellbeing sessions, and mindful meadow bathing.

Signature treatments

For a fully immersive experience, the new Stay & Spa package includes breakfast, a choice of a 60-minute facial or personalised massage, and a £75 dining credit – the perfect invitation to slow down and reconnect with not only your body and mind, but also the loved-ones you take with you.

Down Hall Hotel, Spa & Estate, Essex

The Down Hall Hotel – a 110-acre country house estate on the Essex/Hertfordshire border – already had an award-winning wellness space in the form of the Eden Spa (complete with a balmy hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, three treatment rooms and a double suite for couples), but now its offering has got even better. The new Barn Spa is a sweet little alcove set in the estate’s landscaped gardens and it is home to five additional treatment rooms, all crafted to feel calm, cosy and utterly welcoming. Inside them you can enjoy restorative massages and radiance-boosting facials you can’t find anywhere else in the UK, courtesy of the spa’s exciting and exclusive partnership with British wellness brand Bramley, which sees treatments delivered using sustainable, plant-based products. Another unique feature of the new space is the outdoor relaxation terrace, where you can take a moment of calm in the sunshine with views over the estate’s kitchen garden – another source of many botanicals used in the treatments. Consider it your invitation to relax and unwind in the beauty of the British countryside, whether you are seeking some solo spa time or a couple’s escape.

Signature treatments

Your spa therapist will tailor any treatment to your individual needs but if you are stuck on what exactly to have, you can’t go wrong with the two-hour-long Rejuvenate Ritual, which is exclusive to The Barn Spa at Down Hall. Including body brushing, soothing massage, body scrubs and moisturisers, you’ll float off the treatment bed on a cloud.

The Balmoral, Edinburgh

The new Irene Forte Spa at The Balmoral sweeps you away to a serene Mediterranean oasis, without you having to set foot outside one of Edinburgh’s most iconic – and centrally-located – hotels. Thoughtfully redesigned with soft terracotta and sage tones, hand-painted lemon murals, and even the scent of Italian orange blossom pumped into the air, the spa blends Sicilian warmth with Scottish grandeur, creating a space that feels both restorative and beautifully luxurious. Home to five treatment rooms, a thermal suite with a sauna and steam room, and a 15‑metre indoor lap pool — perfect for long, slow lengths after a day of exploring the city – the real highlights are the bespoke treatment rituals using Irene Forte’s science-driven botanically enriched skincare products. These can be customised to the time you have, ranging from fast yet effective facials and manicures at the Forte Vita bar to advanced treatments using energy-based devices and volcanic stones to supercharge your skin’s glow and smoothness. Your wellness experiences don’t stop at the spa door either: there’s a state-of-the-art gym and movement studio on site too, and even in-room Reformer Pilates – through the hotel’s partnership with Fold. That means it’s never been easier to feel both pampered and on track with your fitness goals while travelling.

Signature treatments

Choose one of the four themed Irene Forte facials to help address your skin’s specific needs. The Age-defier firms and lifts; the Purifier deep cleans oily skin; the Brighter reboots tired complexions; and the Hydrator is a saviour for dry, dehydrated faces.

Calcot & Spa, Cotswolds

Turns out the brains behind the pampering at Calcot & Spa weren’t quite finished when they oversaw the Cotswold-based spa’s £5 million refurbishment and expansion in 2024 – they were just getting started. Now, the retreat will also play host to a new Recovery Garden (due to open in early March, so watch this space), which will be nestled within the spa’s courtyard. Tapping into the growing trend for wild swimming and hot/cold therapy experiences (according to the Good Spa Guide, 58% of UK travellers booking a spa or wellness break prioritise hot-and-cold water therapies), the new outbuilding features a traditional wood-fired sauna, an infrared enhanced sauna and two cold-plunge pools set between 8 and 12 degrees. The new offering is perfect for those seeking post-workout recovery (as it helps with circulation), as well as anyone looking for a mindful moment of calm, or, let’s face it, a little wellness challenge (and squeal) with friends. It is also a great accompaniment to Calcot’s existing spa experiences including a picture-perfect outdoor hot tub, beautiful pool and a packed treatment menu to suit all facial and body concerns.

Signature treatments

Once you are done testing your nerve in the plunge pools, book in for a pampering facial from leading skincare brand Comfort Zone, particularly the Hydra Glow Facial that uses gentle peels, cooling spoons and potent skincare to supercharge the hydration and radiance of winter-worn complexions. Team it with an Aromatherapy Associates Aromatherapy Massage and your stay will be even more indulgent.

The Newt, Somerset

Wellness insiders always keep an eye on the retreat programmes at The Newt in Somerset as the hotel really does have some of the best in the UK. And, the newly announced Live Well retreats for 2026 don’t disappoint, with a trio of two-day experiences to help you reset, recharge and plan for the rest of the year. For January, the focus is on Nourish Your Body – a food-focused retreat that has nothing to do with punishing yourself for indulgence. In fact, it’s much more about empowerment, with highlights including in-person advice from nutritionist Jasmine Hemsley and a fermenting and preserving workshop with Cultjar. In February, the focus will be on movement, strength and reconnection with your body, with Qigong sessions, cold water swimming and daily yoga sessions, designed to introduce you to fun and challenging new experiences, which leave you physically strong and mentally uplifted. Finally, March is all about Balance – a retreat guided by practitioners whose work centres on resilience, awareness and long-term wellbeing through breath work, sauna sessions and Ayurveda.

Signature treatments

Time in the spa can be built into each of the retreats at The Newt, and the Best of Both ritual within the Restore section of the treatment menu is a must-try. The 75 minute-experience combines a back, neck and shoulder massage to alleviate muscle tension with a beautifully relaxing facial.

Cliveden House, Berkshire

For anyone searching for a really results-driven treatment during their pampering spa experiences, Cliveden House in Berkshire has announced an exciting new partnership with Decree Skincare that will tick all the right boxes. Tear yourself away from the inviting lounger-lined indoor pool or outdoor hot tubs and you can choose from not one, not two, but three tailored treatments. After all, Decree was founded by the GP Dr Anita Sturnham to really get to the root cause of your skin concerns. As for which to choose: the AM Revitalising Facial is all about waking up your skin with tension-releasing massage, cooling tools and massage to lift and sculpt your complexion in a flash. The PM Restorative Facial focuses on tranquility (and we wouldn’t blame you for falling asleep during it) due to the warming, cleansing tips and rhythmic massage that makes light work of dryness and irritation. Or, for the tech-minded, the Bespoke Facial uses LED light therapy and microcurrent sculpting to really lift and nourish your skin.

Signature treatments

Cliveden House isn’t just home to treatments that pamper your face and body. You can also refresh your hair with The Monpure Experience, which can include stimulating scalp massage, detoxifying treatments and hair nourishment to give you your healthiest strands yet.
