Welcome to The Conscious Citizen – CF’s monthly spotlight on the most inspiring sustainable collectives paving the way in mindful innovation and impact.
Including a B-Corp brand committed to sustainability, an affordable jewellery brand crafted with conflict-free materials, and an eco-conscious Mexican hotel that puts the surrounding nature reserve first – these are a few of the names making a positive change this May.
FASHION
SKYE by Brora
Since its launch in 2023 to mark Brora’s 30th anniversary, SKYE by Brora has evolved from a celebratory capsule into one of the brand’s most compelling collections. Designed by creative directors Jesse and Lola Pilkington, the diffusion line channels Brora’s heritage through a modern lens. Unveiling what will be its sixth collection, SS26 sees vintage-inspired silhouettes mixed with soft tailoring, asymmetry and delicate feminine detailing. Lightweight textured cottons and delicate lace in a palette of sky blues, vivid greens, and crisp whites evoke the palette of coastal island landscapes. Underpinning the collection is Brora’s longstanding commitment to craftsmanship and responsible production. SKYE continues to utilise the brand’s trusted network of craftspeople and prioritises natural fibres throughout. In 2025, Brora achieved B Corp certification – a milestone that reinforces the label’s dedication to sustainability and conscious craftsmanship.
ACCESSORIES
HEAVENLY LONDON
Defined by east-to-west set moissanite stones, the newly launched Horizon collection from Heavenly London reimagines classic jewellery silhouettes through sculptural torques, refined chains and delicate drop earrings. The signature pendant is designed to be worn suspended on a colourful rope chain or integrated into a more structured silhouette, like the torque, for an elevated evening finish. Crafted using responsibly sourced recycled metals and set with conflict-free moissanite and cubic zirconia, each piece is hand-finished and rooted in Heavenly London’s ‘kind not mined’ philosophy and B Corp-certified approach. The collection reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to conscious materials, ethical production and accessible, low-impact luxury.
STAY
Perched above Oaxaca’s wild Pacific coastline, Mexico’s La Valise Mazunte is designed in harmony with its natural surroundings. Integrated within the 30-hectare El Torón Reserve, the property operates as a living laboratory, where preservation of native flora, biodiversity and protected sea turtle nesting sites take priority over development. Guests are immersed in the landscape, from seasonal wildlife migrations to whale sightings that can be observed from private terraces. The hotel’s open-air, cross-ventilated timber structures minimise the need for traditional air-conditioning, instead relying on the Pacific breeze for natural climate control. Built using locally sourced materials and low-impact construction methods, the architecture is intentionally integrated into the cliffs and vegetation with minimal disruption to the land. Sustainability informs every aspect of the stay, from locally sourced menus celebrating Oaxaca’s regional biodiversity to responsible operational practices focused on reducing environmental impact and supporting nearby producers. La Valise Mazunte places environmental stewardship and cultural preservation at the centre of the guest experience, reinforcing a conscious luxury philosophy that exists in balance with the ecosystem around it.
FITNESS
ON
Founded in Zurich in 2010, On has become one of the defining names in modern performance sportswear, recognised for combining Swiss engineering with progressive design innovation. Best known for its signature CloudTec cushioning technology, the brand continues to push the boundaries of running through experimental approaches ranging from recyclable footwear to spray-on uppers developed at its Zurich-based innovation hub, the On Lab. Sustainability remains central to the brand’s evolution, reflected through initiatives such as Cyclon – On’s circular subscription model designed to reduce waste through fully recyclable running shoes. Alongside performance innovation, the brand continues to explore more responsible materials and production methods across its collections. On’s apparel and footwear offering balances technical performance with everyday versatility, spanning running shoes (including this pair co-created with Zendaya and stylist Law Roach), lightweight outerwear, breathable separates, and functional accessories – all defined by clean lines, ergonomic construction, and a minimalist aesthetic.
EAT
SESSIONS ARTS CLUB
Set within its storied Grade II-listed home on Clerkenwell Green, Sessions Arts Club has opened its doors on Sundays, inviting guests to gather for a weekend ritual. Led by head chef Fenella, menus are guided by the best available seasonal produce and shaped around low-waste cooking plus the thoughtful sourcing practices that reflect Sessions Arts Club’s wider commitment to sustainability. Menus celebrate simplicity and are ingredient-led, with sample Sunday offerings including crab, aioli and sourdough, shoulder of lamb with salsa verde and beef fat potatoes, as well as seasonal sweet-treats such as rhubarb trifle. Sessions Arts Club will also host a Sunday Residency Programme – a series of sporadic, seasonal collaborations with guest chefs and creative friends of the house. These residencies will appear throughout the year, sitting alongside the regular Sunday offering.
