Weekend Wellness: Finding Balance At 7Pines Resort Ibiza

There’s no longer any need to choose between a sense of indulgence and yogi-like zen when you travel to Ibiza: 7Pines Resort Ibiza provides the best of both.

Combining cutting-edge longevity rituals, elevated dining, and effortless access to the island’s famous nightlife — all set against one of the most cinematic coastal backdrops in the Balearics, Citizen Femme’s Wellness Director checks in.

The last time I was in Ibiza, I was on a whistle-stop tour; getting changed in the airport lounge before heading straight off to one of the iconic nightclubs to party the night away. It was a lot of fun, but I couldn’t help wishing that I’d had enough time to team the experience with a stay in one of Ibiza’s more peaceful spa hotels (something the island is also well-known for).

When the opportunity to visit 7Pines Resort Ibiza arose, I knew it would make the perfect first stop for the CF wellness section’s inaugural Weekend Wellness series; a new series designed to prove that improving your wellbeing doesn’t have to be too serious, or mean taking up all your annual leave. Including revamped spa facilities and exceptional fusion dining, here’s why a weekend spa-based stay at 7Pines is worth including in your Ibiza itinerary.

THE LOWDOWN

To put it simply, 7Pines manages to bottle Ibiza’s dual personality perfectly – offering complete tranquillity when you want it, while ensuring the island’s legendary energy is never far away. Perched on Ibiza’s dramatic west coast overlooking the Mediterranean, the five-star, peaceful, all-suite sanctuary is set into the landscape (rather than imposing itself upon it), with paths winding through cactus gardens to reveal clusters of whitewashed suites and, from the dramatic coastal cliffs, uninterrupted – and unforgettable – sea views.

You can feel the stress unfurl from your shoulders as soon as you arrive, after a short 30-minute drive from the airport, but the atmosphere is not a sleepy sort of stillness. There’s an almost magical charge in the air instead, which locals might say has something to do with Es Vedrà, the rock formation that rises out of the sea nearby. Legend says it is actually the tip of the lost city of Atlantis, or, in other tellings, the home of the sirens who tried to lure Odysseus in Homer’s The Odyssey. Those stories aside, it is a fair question to wonder where 7Pines’ palpable energy comes from. Perhaps it is because every social space at 7Pines feels effortlessly ready to transition seamlessly from a heart-rate-calming relaxation hub by day to a sophisticated nightlife space by night (via the ceremonial beating of a large golden gong). 7Pines is also one of Ibiza’s best places to see the sunset, and the resort leans into that knowledge with the infinity pool, restaurants and bar areas all perfectly positioned to take advantage.

There’s certainly a touch of something special to the newly revamped spa that sits both literally and figuratively at the heart of your stay, plus the culinary offering that rivals some of the island’s most sought-after dining destinations. Visit during May through October when Ibiza’s summer season truly comes alive, and, with Ibiza town just a half-hour hotel-organised taxi away, 7Pines allows you to enjoy a build-your-own wellness experience that’s as lively or as lie-down as you want it to be.

THE SPA

The beauty of Pure Seven Spa is that it makes it entirely possible to transform a weekend at 7Pines into a mini wellness retreat without ever feeling like you’ve signed up for one – not least because you no longer have to choose between indulgent pampering and cutting-edge wellness, courtesy of the spa’s recent revamp.

My first morning, for example, started slowly with somatic yoga on the clifftop terrace; a practice that feels almost designed for this sort of setting, given its focus on reconnecting body and senses. What could be more grounding than moving through a gentle flow while the coastline stretches out in every direction and your only soundtrack is the rhythm of waves below? From there, I barely had to move to continue the sense of slow unwinding. Just a few steps inside, I drifted between the sauna, steam room, sensory showers and quiet relaxation spaces, ending this circuit in the warming spa pool, gazing out at the seemingly endless Mediterranean, with my mind as quiet as it has been in a long time.

You don’t even lose that breathtaking view when you enter the treatment rooms, with bespoke massages and facials taking place in beautifully calm sea-facing rooms, where floor-to-ceiling windows continue to allow the Ibizan sunshine to beam through. You won’t want to close your eyes, but will ultimately surrender as your therapist begins working through layers of tension you didn’t even realise you were carrying. Therapists here have an impressive instinct to locate knots quickly and confidently, adapting pressure and technique in real time. You can even personalise the experience further by choosing your own music (a subtle but thoughtful nod to the island’s deep musical heritage).

Yet, wellness at Pure Seven isn’t just about stillness and short-term recovery. Far from it. The spa also distinguishes itself within Ibiza’s wider wellness offering for its embrace of longevity science, helping guests find longer-lasting wellbeing even after a stay of just a few days. Best of all, it delivers it in a soft and approachable way that many solely clinical spaces overlook. For that reason, the revamped treatment menu now offers advanced treatments such as cryotherapy sessions designed to cold-shock your body to better circulation and vitality, as well as red light therapy on cosy water beds to tackle inflammation (perfect for stressed-out frequent flyers), as additions to your more pampering treatment sessions. That allows you to quickly and easily try them both without losing any sense that you are still on holiday. The sea-facing gym is equipped with high-tech training equipment and body-scanning tools that bring a more personalised edge to your fitness routine too, while guided hikes along Ibiza’s rugged coastline are a must-do, especially if you pause for a breathwork session in one of the hidden coves.

Or if you want the full retreat experience – still without sacrificing the indulgence of a luxury stay – book the ‘Forever Young’ biological optimisation programme, which stands out because the aim, unlike so many other wellness regimes, is all about optimisation, not restriction. That means that over three (or ten) days you can gain access to epigenetics coaching, IV therapies, cryotherapy, and holistic treatments that can help you dig deeper into how to improve your energy, mental clarity and immune system, without having to step away from your holiday indulgences in the process. Go straight from your sessions to a different kind of rest and restoration at the main infinity pool. Long enough to do laps and lined with loungers – listen to the DJ or chat with friends at the new swim-up Taittinger Champagne bar.

THE ROOMS

The resort is home to 185 residential-style suites, thoughtfully spread across three distinct areas. And, rather than separating rooms by price point or level of luxury, 7Pines Ibiza has designed each neighbourhood around the kind of holiday experience you want to have, which gives the whole property a much more personalised feel. If you like to be at the centre of everything, the Ibicenco Village is the place to be. Here, the Garden Suites – some with private pools – offer the easiest access to the restaurants, main infinity pool and the spa, making them ideal if you want to make the most of the resort’s facilities from morning to night during a short stay.

For something a little more secluded, The Cliff is hard to beat. Perched right on the edge of the dramatic coastline, these deluxe suites enjoy some of the most spectacular views on the resort and with a greater sense of privacy, it’s a particularly appealing option for couples or anyone seeking a quieter escape. Families, meanwhile, will feel most at home in the Laguna area. This collection of spacious multi-room suites includes easy access to a child-friendly pool and to the kids’ club, Kio House of Kids, meaning your little ones have plenty of space to play, while you can enjoy knowing everything they need is close at hand.

Wherever you choose to stay, you can expect generously sized and thoughtfully laid out rooms, with separate living areas and kitchenette-style spaces that make settling in almost instantaneous. The interiors are equally inviting without being showy, embracing a calm, understated aesthetic with soft neutral tones, natural wood finishes and touches of ocean blue that reflect the landscape beyond your windows. Every suite also comes with either a private terrace or balcony, ensuring your stunning surroundings are never more than a few steps away, while providing the perfect spot for a morning coffee, sunset drink or simply soaking up the Ibiza sunshine.

THE DINING

Dining at 7Pines falls squarely into the category of food for the soul, and a feeling of creativity flows through every bite, whether you are having sushi by the pool or trying a new fusion cuisine at one of the restaurants. Cone Club, with its seating deliberately designed to always face out towards the sea, will take you from your morning cappuccino at breakfast, served buffet style while surrounded by fellow guests in their sportswear, all the way through to your last cocktail on the terrace as the sun goes down, where guests feel equally at home relaxing in their linen co-ords as they do in their dresses and heels ready for dancing.

At Nela (which has a must-visit sister restaurant newly opened in London), there’s always the guarantee of a show-stopping dinner, with chef Óscar Salazar bringing elevated live-fire cooking to the island. Here beautifully sourced ingredients take centre stage, especially mouth-watering fresh fish and meat, and there’s always a little surprise in store, such as the reinvention of the classic Italian tiramsu on the dessert menu, which features coffee-filled tapiocca balls that explode with flavour on first bite. Another equally memorable experience comes courtesy of Ikisaki, where Japanese and Peruvian influences combine to create vibrant twists on classic Nikkei dishes. Do not leave without trying the feather-light beetroot bread – an unstated star of the show – but do leave room for the exceptional spicy tuna maki rolls and fresh sea bass ceviche, too.

Dining at 7Pines could easily justify a stay in its own right, and, if you don’t believe me, take a look at the slightly tongue-in-cheek option on the dessert menu at Nela called ‘Sweet Dreams’. Designed specifically for non-hotel guests who have enjoyed their experience (and their drinks) so much that they don’t want to go home, you can ‘order’ yourself a suite for the night post-dinner so your evening doesn’t have to end too soon. It’ll cost you €2,500, but if that isn’t the perfect Ibizan solution to ensuring everyone has fun, I don’t know what is.

THE LITTLE EXTRAS

What ultimately sets 7Pines apart is its flexibility. You can spend the day immersed in wellness, head out dancing until sunrise, or do a little of both, and the staff will be on hand to help you achieve it all seamlessly. Around the pool, the service is attentive but never intrusive, with drinks and food offered just before you think to ask for them, and an concierge team ready to arrange anything from private yacht charters along Ibiza’s hidden coves (after gazing at the boats all day, trust me, you’ll be tempted) to last-minute dinner reservations. For those drawn to Ibiza’s nightlife, VIP access and curated club experiences can be seamlessly arranged too, but family life is never overlooked either with child-friendly activities at the kids’ club.

And finally, as you might expect from Ibiza, music is woven into the experience at 7Pines, and it has a really powerful, yet easily overlooked, effect on your wellbeing. The soundtrack begins softly in the morning, with laid-back tunes accompanying breakfast and your in-spa routine. As the sun climbs higher, the atmosphere gradually builds around the pool, slowly taking on the energy of a stylish beach club, with upbeat DJ sets and a lively social buzz bringing the space to life. By sunset, the music once again evolves, creating that unmistakable Ibiza magic as guests gather for golden-hour cocktails. It’s a small but thoughtful touch that perfectly captures what 7Pines does so well: shifting from peaceful retreat to vibrant island escape, exactly when you want it to.
