This Week CF Loves

This Week CF Loves: 31.08.26

August is on its way out, we’re all faintly sunburnt and in denial about it, and yet, there’s something about a September on the horizon that makes even the most reluctant among us reach for a new handbag and pretend we’ve never heard of a Sunday scaries spiral.

New season, new rules. Here’s what’s earned a place on our desks this week.

ENJOY DATE NIGHT HERE IGNI, Mayfair

IGNI in Mayfair is currently cooking absolutely everything, every single course, no exceptions, over a four-metre wood grill with no gas or electricity backup, and it is, unsurprisingly, the booking everyone’s fighting over right now. IGNI is chef Theo Clench’s follow-up to the much-loved Cycene, taking over the old Humo site with a coastal, seafood-led menu: think tuna served three ways (aged hutoro dipped in melted foie gras, a tartlet layered with lapsang ponzu jelly, a parfait finished with 25-year-old Pedro Ximénez), to hand-dived Shetland scallops. Enjoyed as a six-course or nine-course menu, both executed with full theatre. Spectacular dishes, bite-sized and cooked to perfection, this is one of London’s most memorable meals. Book now, Michelin is rumoured to be circling, and once that happens, good luck getting a table before Christmas.

GET BACK TO HEALTH WITH THIS WHOOP

Let’s be honest: summer has been indulgent (read entry number 1). The late dinners, the extra glass of rosé, the holidays that left us more tired than before we left, this is peak “I need to know what’s actually going on with my recovery” season, and WHOOP remains the gold standard for exactly that kind of unflinching, no-excuses data. But the reason it’s landing on our desk this week isn’t the tracking, which was always excellent, it’s the Meridian band, WHOOP’s first attempt at making it look like jewellery instead of gym kit. Swap the sporty fabric strap for a tapered titanium Milanese mesh in gold, rose gold, matte black or alloy, and suddenly your recovery scores aren’t clashing with your dinner outfit. It’s not a new sensor or a smarter algorithm, WHOOP is very clear that Meridian doesn’t unlock anything new, but it solves the problem that’s made people take their band off for date night: it looks like something you’d choose to wear. September routine reset, sorted, and kept throughout the day and the evening.

ADD THIS TO YOUR A/W WARDROBE 'With Nothing Underneath' Jeans

With Nothing Underneath has spent years perfecting one thing, the kind of oversized, borrowed-from-a-boyfriend shirt that makes you look like you didn’t try, and now founder Pip Durell is turning that same eye onto jeans. The brand’s first-ever denim collection lands with three shapes, each named after an icon whose style did the talking for her: The Stevie, a cropped kick-flare in light blue and off-white; The Crawford, a classic straight leg in mid-blue and light blue; and The Fawcett, a full-length wide leg in mid-blue and off-white. It’s exactly the kind of considered, no-noise approach to denim you’d expect from WNU – no fleeting trend shapes, just three wearable silhouettes built to anchor a wardrobe the same way the Boyfriend shirt already has. The natural next step for anyone already living in that shirt and reaching for it before anything else, the jeans are designed to do exactly the same job for your bottom half. Get in early; WNU’s shirts have a habit of selling through entire size runs within days of restock, and we’d bet the jeans behave no differently.

TREAT YOUR HAIR TO THIS Neville Hair & Beauty's The Scalp Facial

The skinification of absolutely everything has finally, mercifully, reached our scalps. Neville’s new Scalp Facial applies the exact same logic we’ve all been drilled on for our skin – cleanse, exfoliate, stimulate, nourish – to the bit of us that’s been neglected under a summer of salt water, SPF residue and dry shampoo overload. Over 45 to 60 minutes, targeted massage and micro-exfoliation clear out product build-up and pollution residue while boosting circulation, leaving hair visibly shinier and noticeably lighter by the time you leave the chair. “Your scalp is skin too,” says Director Elena Lavagni, which is the kind of obvious-once-someone-says-it logic that makes you wonder why we’ve spent years assuming shampoo and conditioner alone were doing the job. Book it every four to six weeks, or specifically ahead of your next colour appointment – a clean, balanced scalp is apparently the difference between a blow-dry that lasts and one that doesn’t, and after a summer of neglect, ours could use the reset.

Fairfax & Favor — The Connie

INVEST IN THIS BAG Fairfax & Favor's The Connie

Every season needs an It bag, and Fairfax & Favor’s new Connie has arrived to do exactly that job for AW26. Landing this week in Tan and Mahogany, the whole thing is built like a saddle got a very sophisticated makeover, curved silhouette, Italian pebble-grain leather, and brass hardware lifted straight from the tack room, right down to a bit-inspired clasp on the front. “We wanted The Connie to feel rooted in its equestrian origins, but ultimately designed for modern life,” says Chief Creative Officer Barbara Horspool, and she’s not exaggerating – dog clips and D-rings mean you can swap between two straps depending on whether you’re doing school run or supper, which is precisely the town-to-country flexibility this brand built its entire name on. At £295, it’s not an impulse buy, but it is the kind of piece Fairfax & Favor is positioning as an heirloom-in-waiting – “made to be lived not worn,” as they put it — and we’d wager it sells out of both colourways well before the leaves have properly turned.
