Are you a Sunday girl? Five Special Sunday's in London

Sunday’s are my favourite day of the week. To me, this day is the most relaxed, there are no expectations, no pre-set goals and it’s a day to just be yourself.

Maybe it’s a sofa day, a day of inspiration, maybe it even involves the sweatiest workout of your week. Do what you want!! Sundays are particularly awesome because most things are open now. Growing up in London in the eighties and nineties, I was often bored on Sundays but now no more! Let’s go explore.

Here are some of my favourite London Sundays.

The Hipster One

At least once every couple of months I will wander down to Columbia flower market. I buy as many floral beauties as I can carry to turn my home into a whimsical wonderland. To avoid the crowds get there early at 9am or late at 3pm. I prefer the latter as this is when prices start to drop so vendors can clear stock before they go home. This is a quintessential London experience but also a comical one as wheeler dealer cheeky chappies try to flog you the prettiest of peonies. Prior to the market I always go to Lily Vanilli in the courtyard at Ezra Street for a cheeky treat and coffee and on the way back stop off at Clutch on Ravenscroft Street for a late lunch.

The Cultural One

Start with brunch at Daisy Green on Seymour Street in Marylebone. Then keep walking down Seymour Street til you get to Edgware Road and go past Marble Arch to walk through the length of Hyde Park maybe even stopping off to admire Zara Hadid’s wonderful work at the Serpentine Gallery. Once through the park, turn right and walk down until you get to the Victoria and Albert Museum or “V&A”. Don’t hold back this is a veritable visual art and fashion feast. You must take some selfies in the courtyard before you leave, the buildings and the way the light hits are very special.

The Sweaty One

Sweaty with a side of sweat. Don’t forget your sweat bands and a spare pair of socks. Book yourself into Psycle’s newest studio in Shoreditch for a 60 minute spin sesh at 10am. Then take an hour’s break to shower and reload with a smoothie from the in-house bar before doing an hour’s yoga class. If that hasn’t finished you off, saunter down to Columbia flower market as above and you will be in time to land some bargains.

The Indulgent One

Sunday feasts at Millie’s at the Ned. This is the newest mega-joint from Soho House and is a very special place to wind down. Make sure you book a table and grab all your besties for £35 eat as much as you can. But before you sit down at the table, head downstairs to Cheeky to get your nails done, with full nail art obviously.

Bubbles are extra at the feast upstairs but it’s well worth it. Don’t forget to try the Yorkshire pudding and all the cheeses!! The live music accompaniments are just the icing on the cake. For history geeks, this old bank headquarters doesn’t disappoint. Check out the hat lockers on the first floor and the directors’ smoking, lunch and board rooms on the sixth floor.

The Nutty One

What if I told you you could rent a small boat with a hot tub to go round London’s canals? You’re in? Great! Book yourself into the hot tub at Islington Boat Club and you and six friends will enjoy the 38 degree water for 90 minutes for just £220. You can bring your own alcohol and then head to my favourite Islington pub which is focused on local organic fare, the Duke of Cambridge for a huge Sunday lunch. Gosh I love London!
