CF Editors Pick Their Favourite Beauty Products This Month

Beauty products drop at a dizzying rate, but there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. At CF we have done the hard work for you: curating an edit of the products dropping in May to really get excited about.

Whether you’re in need of a new transporting scent, the perfect English Rose blusher, or products to prepare your legs after a long winter in hibernation, here are the best beauty treats dropping this month.

THE FACE WORKOUT

Fans of FaceGym's facial workouts will love the brand's new high-performance skincare line, which brings the in-studio sculpting experience to your home. Three years in the making, the four products work to prep, train, and recover skin, whilst nifty QR codes on the packaging unlock a wealth of expertise from the FaceGym trainers. This is next-level skincare.

THE BEACH IN A BOTTLE

If you could bottle the smell of the best beach holiday ever – think crystal waters, the powderiest of sands, and sun-baked skin – I’m pretty sure it would smell like the new Louis Vuitton 'On The Beach' eau de parfum. It's a riot of yuzu, orange blossom, and neroli, spiked with rosemary and pink pepper. The fragrance is bright, joyous, and dazzling – just like a summer scent should be.

THE LIP TINT

The only way to describe esteemed make-up artist Gucci Westman’s clean beauty line is 'impossibly chic'. From the sleek packaging, to the clever formulas, it's chic, chic, chic. Now there’s another product to love: Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm, available in six  lustworthy shades. The intelligent gel-oil hybrid is packed with jojoba, almond, and argan oils to hydrate and plump, whilst emollients derived from seed oil deliver long-lasting wear. The nifty, paddle-shaped applicator also makes sweeping it on a breeze. The result: pillowy-soft lips with a flattering wash of colour.

THE SILKY BLUSH

The quest for the perfect blush to make you resemble a Pre-Raphaelite painting is over, thanks to Hermes Beauty’s new Rose Hermès collection. The silky, semi-matte powder is wonderfully buildable, so you can opt for the most natural flush, through to a more accentuated pink hue. As for the white leather case – no less than we'd expect from the Parisian purveyors of fine leather goods.

THE MULTI-TASKER

We love multitasking beauty products to save space on our rapidly overcrowded bathroom shelves. Fans of Oribe’s iconic hair care products will love this new oil, which offers hair-to-toe hydration, with a blend of 17 carefully selected nourishing and restorative oils. Rich in antioxidants, it prevents against damage from external aggressors whilst moisturising and softening both skin (suitable for body and face) and hair. It can also be used overnight to restore hair from frazzled to glossy. We’re dubbing it a wonder elixir.

THE CLEANSING BALM

Good skin starts with an efficacious cleanser, such as this new ESPA cleansing balm. The buttery-soft balm turns into a lather upon contact with water, to later be gently swiped away with a muslin cloth. Perfect for seasonal skin concerns, it works hard to tackle dryness and redness with a combination of CICA and Calendula, whilst gentle Bio-Retinol brightens skin. It smells just like a trip to the spa with essential oils of lavender, ylang ylang, and petitgrain, making it an utter joy to use.

THE BRITISH SUMMERTIME BOTTLED

Jo Malone London’s limited edition summer collections are always a treat – ones which tend to be snapped up fast. This year they bottle up all the fun of the quintessential British summer fête with their Marmalade Collection. All five 30ml bottles smell divine, but the Elderflower Cordial is particularly lovely, contrasting the soft sweetness of elderflower with the tartness of gooseberries. An unexpected mix, but surprisingly wearable as a light daytime scent.

THE SUPER SERUM

Want the benefits of retinol but fearful of how your skin will react? We have a solution, in the form of Aurelia’s Resurfacing Serum. It uses plant-based bakuchiol as a gentle alternative to retinol to smooth lines and wrinkles, and even skin tone. It's also laced with ingredient of the moment, niancinamide, which works to minimise breakouts, redness, and shrink pores. For such a hard-working serum, the texture is unexpectedly lightweight and silky, drying down to a glowy base.

THE BODY SCRUB

To celebrate the power of touch, family run spa brand, Natura Bissé, has extended their expertise from stellar facial skincare products to the body with The Diamond Well-Living Collection. The Body Scrub is a reassuring gritty concoction of marine salt crystals, ground rice, and grape seeds to gently buff away dead skin cells. Meanwhile shea butter, vitamin E, and grape-seed oil restore skin to leave limbs soft and supple.

THE SHOWER GEL

I'm afraid to say that bath season is over, but supercharging your morning shower with an indulgent shower gel can be just as restorative. This new one from Nuxe is infused with sweet almond oil, so skin will be left soft as silk. The uplifting notes of grapefruit, magnolia, and musk offer a welcome morning hit of dopamine, and linger gently on the skin all day.
