What Is The Future Of Sustainable Beauty?

In partnership with the Soil Association and special guests Pai and Dr. Organic, CF’s beauty editor Becki Murray discusses what the future of sustainable beauty might hold in the years to come.

Running from the 11th to 17th September 2023, Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week is a celebration of the organic beauty industry, and an exciting opportunity to mark the many innovations that brands across skincare, haircare, and bodycare are making. In fact, they mean our routines are not only able to be more planet-friendly, but also more effective too.

To mark the occasion, CF’s beauty editor Becki Murray sat down with three leading sustainable beauty experts: the founder of sensitive skincare brand Pai, Sarah Brown; Victoria Harrison, the brand director at Dr. Organic; and Paige Tracey, the Business Development Manager of Soil Association Certification.

The podcast episode, recorded at Somerset House, covers topics including exciting new sustainable ingredient trends, the importance of Existing Product Development (EPD), and why accreditation can be an important signpost in your quest for a more eco-conscious beauty bag. In fact, both Dr. Organic and Pai are Soil Association-accredited, meaning their products bear the world-renowned logo demonstrating their commitment to especially stringent organic beauty regulations.

This year’s Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week, also challenges each of us to ‘Make One Small Swap’ to make your beauty routine more eco-friendly. You can find our panellist’s inspiration below:

Paige: “Use a certified organic cleansing balm or oil, with an organic cotton cloth to remove make-up, instead of make-up wipes! Much better for your skin and for the planet.”

Becki: “I’m committing to making my travel-beauty routine more eco-conscious. Instead of grabbing minis at the airport, I’ve decided to keep a full set of 100ml and under products in my suitcase, ready for my next trip. That means I actually bring with me the products I love, and I don’t end up leaving half-full bottles behind at the end of my stay.”

Victoria: “Try upgrading your nighttime routine by swapping in a nourishing oil like Dr. Organic Ageless Overnight Recovery Oil. Your skin is more active at night and repairs and regenerates while you sleep, so there’s even more reason to choose a supporting product made with clean and pure organic ingredients due to their higher absorption into the skin.”
