What The CF Team Are Loving This March

In need of some inspiration for an uplifting March?

Welcome to the Citizen Femme team’s list of things to eat, buy, watch, try, and experience this month. This is the ultimate inspiration to see you into spring.

Sheena Bhattessa, Founder

STAY Four Seasons Megève to catch the end of ski season including a very special horse-drawn carriage ride through the town of Megève. VISIT Tate Modern for its once-in-a-generation exhibition of paintings, watercolours and drawings by Paul Cézanne (make sure to catch it before it closes on March 12). The exhibition reveals how the artist’s bold approach challenged conventions, and in ways continues to influence painters working today. WATCH A Little Life at Harold Pinter Theatre, the stage adaptation of American writer Hanya Yanagihar’s novel. While it’s a long evening’s commitment, it takes you from the vigorous life of a band of wealthy young men to a painful stillness, as the lead character is defeated not by the ghosts of his past but by plain misfortune. EAT at Lusin, Armenian cuisine in Mayfair. The capital of Armenia, Yerevan, is one of the world’s oldest inhabited cities so it goes without question that the culture and flavours presented are rich and diverse. A fairly underrepresented cuisine in London, you’re treated to sensationally flavoured food from the Middle East. TRY Non-alcoholic botanical drink Botivo, which infuses five botanicals (rosemary, thyme, orange zest, gentian, wormwood) and honey into a fermented apple base, for several weeks. A glorious evening refresher for healthy hedonists.

STAY I’ve been eyeing up the unique luxury collection of properties at Wilderness Reserve, Suffolk for a Spring stay surrounded by 5000 acres of nature. BUY After what seems like months and months of winter dressing, I’m hoping for a glimmer of spring. This pair of HELSA sage green cargo pants are the first addition to my spring/summer wardrobe. I’ll be wearing with a white tank top and sandals. WATCH After five amazing seasons of London-based police thriller Luther, the debut movie Luther: The Fallen Sun comes to Netflix on 10th March for more nail-biting TV. EAT At Chicama in Chelsea, a sister restaurant to the acclaimed Pachamama for a menu inspired by the coastal food of Peru and the bold-flavours of Peruvian cuisine, with cocktails to match. TRY The Bulgari Spa London is launching four new Mauli Rituals centred around feminine well-being accompanied by a choice of Dosha balancing Sensorial Sound Therapies.

STAY I’ll be enjoying the ultimate staycation at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair, where fashion favourite Sir Paul Smith has designed a playful new suite. EAT With mega madeleines, croque madames and lobster crêpes, Claridge’s ArtSpace Café is the place to be seen this month. VISIT Step aboard Belmond’s famous British Pullman train for a Murder Mystery Lunch like no other, with prizes for the best detectives. WATCH Adam Driver accidentally time-travelling to pre-historic earth and hunting dinosaurs with a space gun…what’s not to love about sci-fi thriller 65DRINK If you’re an aperitivi-lover like me, then Padella’s Negroni Nights – where you can get a £2 cocktail with every plate of pasta purchased between 5 and 6.30pm at their Shoreditch outpost – are just the ticket. SEE It’s your last chance to catch Oscar-nominated Paul Mescal in A Streetcar Named Desire as it transfers to the West End’s Phoenix Theatre for six weeks only.

STAY I’m spending a couple of nights at The Grand Brighton this month, and am hoping for some winter sunshine while there. SEE Andy Warhol: The Textiles. Before Marylin and Campbell’s Soup Warhol created fashion design and illustration, and it’s being spotlighted in a five-month exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum in Bermondsey (begins March 31st). EAT The Jamaican Pepper Prawns on the menu at Original Flava’s pop up in Market House Brixton have me salivating. There are plenty of other pop-up restaurants in London worth visiting this month, too. TRY Sunday Soul Flow Yoga at The Mandrake hotel, London. It will take place from 10AM – 11AM every Sunday this March. BUY Saudi Coffee: The Culture of Hospitality is published by Assouline this month. I love all of Assouline’s travel coffee table books (and I love coffee too!) so this is a perfect book to add to my collection.

STAY At the Anantara Kalutara Resort in Sri Lanka for some beachside RnR; the perfect treat after some busy sun-drenched travelling this March. BUY A top-up of one of my favourite day creams  – Naturium’s Multi-Peptide Moisturiser. My skin has never felt so soft and smooth; I just hope SpaceNK keep it in stock. WATCH Opening night of Bonnie & Clyde’s return to the West End. Jordan Luke Gage’s spine-chilling turn as Clyde Barrow at the Garrick Theatre would be criminal to miss. EAT Fresh gluten-free pasta at Bancone in Covent Garden. It gets booked up fast, but you can often squeeze in at the bar. TRY Avenue Athletica’s Seamless Leggings on my next run. Made from recycled materials, each pair stops around 13 plastic bottles going to landfill.

STAY The Standard at King’s Cross for a quick staycation. With a vast array of restaurants, bars, events, and offerings, I’m looking forward to exploring it all. BUY It’s my birthday this month and I have my eye on a Harmur backless dress for the occasion. WATCH Daisy Jones & The Six on Amazon Prime. I read the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid back in 2020 and have been waiting for the mini-series ever since. EAT This month I’m making sure to catch up with friends as often as possible, and that means lots of dinner reservations. First up is Rüya, a sleek and beautiful restaurant serving seasonal, contemporary dishes from the Anatolian peninsula. READ The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. My friend recommended the classic to me months ago and I’ve finally started it.

STAY I’m heading up to Scotland for a weekend break at Gleneagles. It’s one of my all time favourite hotels so I can’t wait to go back. Absolutely beautiful and the service truly is five-star. WEAR Hopefully there will been some warmer spring weather soon so that I can wear my new boyfriend shirt from Yaitte. I opted for the green stripes – so simple but so chic. VISIT It’s Mother’s Day on 19th March and we are planning a lovely long country walk with our boys and family friends through the gorgeous Surrey Hills. We may pop into Beaverbrook for lunch too. The Garden House is the perfect family restaurant. BOOK Firmdale Hotels have teamed up with some leading arts and craftspeople for a series of creative workshops at Ham Yard and Haymarket hotels this spring. I’d love to learn more about lampshade painting with designer Tess Newall. CHECK OUT The brand new sunglasses collaboration between COS and luxury eyewear designer Linda Farrow. The collection has nine different design and I know I’ll love them all.
