An Insider Guide To Los Angeles With Anine Bing

Los Angeles-based, Danish influencer and designer Anine Bing has found fashion’s sweet spot.

Bringing Scandi-cool to California, Bing launched her namesake label in 2012 and the rest, as they say, is fashion history. Twelve years on, Bing counts supermodel and high-profile collaborations amongst her roster of brand achievements.

Fully assimilated to LA-living, Bing took some time out from her non-stop working week to share her travel tips and go-to spots with us. Pencils at the ready: this is California at its coolest.

The best time to visit LA is…

Autumn tends to be less crowded in LA as most tourists have gone home. October is perfect, as the summer heat has burned off, but it’s still warm and sunny.

Our first pitstop should be…

Alfred Coffee for an almond milk latte.

Your favourite hotel to check-in at is…

Sunset Tower or Chateau Marmont. Both are so iconic old Hollywood and really immerse you in the LA vibe.

For an early morning workout head to…

Griffith Park for a hike before sunrise.

Where should we go for breakfast?

Go Get Em Tiger. If you’re an avocado toast fan, like me, this is the spot for you.

How about for a long, lazy lunch?

Élephante in Santa Monica is amazing; it has such great food alongside ocean views.

And for dinner with friends?

Chateau Marmont has a great atmosphere for a night out with the girls.

A must-try spot for date night?

Nobu Malibu. It’s one of my favourite restaurants for a romantic night out.

Your favourite budget restaurant in town?

Grand Central Market in Downtown is great for a quick bite and offers so many different options.

Where should we head post-dinner?

The Tower Bar in Sunset Tower is an LA classic. It’s cosy and has delicious cocktails.

The drink to order at the bar…

A skinny spicy margarita.

The best place for people watching…

San Vicente Bungalows, a home away from home for the famous creatives within the city.

The culture spot to rave about…

The Getty Center is a must-visit.

The best place to treat yourself is…

I always love getting my hair touched up at Nine Zero One – it makes me feel fresh.

For great shopping head to…

Melrose or Rose Bowl flea markets – you’re guaranteed to find unique vintage pieces here.

Your favourite neighbourhood?

Hancock Park is so beautiful, every home here has sprawling yards which is a rarity in LA. It’s all very charming and family-centric.

Tell us one place only locals know about…

You should take a car and drive up the coast. Make a stop at Point Dume and walk down to the beach; it’s very peaceful and a great way to centre yourself.

For the best views head to…

The rooftop at the Waldorf Astoria is beautiful. You also can’t go wrong with the city view at Soho House West Hollywood.

For a change of pace try…

Head to The Broad in Downtown LA – it’s the perfect place to take out-of-town visitors as so many people don’t make it to this part of town. It’s full of interesting galleries and museums. The best place to visit is Hauser & Wirth. There’s a restaurant inside called Manuela that you should definitely visit for locally-sourced, sustainable dishes.

Great day trips include…

A road trip to either Santa Barbara or Palm Springs in Palm Beach County.

A book to read before we go (or while we’re there)?

Anything by my friend Mia Törnblom.

How should we spend the final day of our trip?

Head to Malibu Farm Café for a farewell lunch. It’s on the Malibu Pier, which is perfect for a sunset stroll with stunning views of the coast.

What’s your LA secret?

Appreciate the outdoor lifestyle and take the time to slow down.

In a word, LA is…

Home.

Essential items to pack?

LA style is so versatile in many ways, which is something I love about the city. The style is always laid back, yet still polished. The ANINE BING wardrobe is perfect for LA: crisp white shirts, denim, and leather boots.
