Checking in: Royal Sonesta New Orleans

I just came back from a girls trip in New Orleans and can’t wait to return. My girlfriends and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans and our stay was nothing short of amazing!

It started the minute we walked through the doors, with the beautiful chandeliers in the lobby and most welcoming staff. Since we arrived two weeks before Mardi Gras, everyone was getting into the Mardi Gras spirit!

The AAA Four Diamond-rated hotel was in the perfect location, in the heart of the French Quarter on Bourbon street, which made the convenience of the hotel once of the best parts. The hotel is walking distance from Jackson Square and all of my favorite restaurants and bars. The hotel has rooms with balconies overlooking Bourbon Street and if that’s too loud or not your style, they have rooms overlooking the courtyard/pool which is much quieter.

The Hotel

We stayed in one of the 483 newly renovated guest rooms overlooking the courtyard on the Club Level – beautiful new marble floors and the bathroom now stocks L’Occitan amenities. The range of rooms and suites will suit everyone, just take a look at the list and pick whats best for you!

Guests on the 6th & 7th floor have access to the R Club Lounge, offering complimentary breakfast daily and complimentary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres every evening from 5-7pm.

Services & Facilties

Hide away from the hustle of Bourbon Street on the property’s courtyard , with plenty of balconies overlooking a heated pool. We didn’t use the pool on this trip, but I can definitely see this being crowded during the summer months! The courtyard and patio area is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy an afternoon. The Hotel also has:

  • 24-hour fitness center
  • 24-hour business center
  • Complimentary high-speed wireless Wi-Fi
  • Excellent concierge to help with booking your tours!

Dining & Entertainment

The Jazz Playhouse

The Jazz Playhouse

Restaurant R’evolution: The award winning restaurant is known for it’s classic Creole and Cajun cuisine – a great spot for a romantic dinner. Make sure you order the seafood beignets!

Desire Oyster Bar: Come here for the raw oyster bar!

Le Booze: They have an amazing selection of whisky and bourbon from around the world.

PJ’s Coffee Cafe: If you love coffee, PJ’s is conveniently located in the hotel lobby for your daily coffee fix.

The Jazz Playhouse: When visiting New Orleans, you’re not allowed to leave without seeing live jazz! As one of New Orleans’ best jazz bars we knew we had to experience The Jazz Playhouse. Shows begin nightly at 8pm with options to purchase preferred seating or seats are first come basis. Eat and drink while you’re enjoying the music, with their cocktails and small tapas style plates. This is a true New Orleans experience you cannot miss!

It was the perfect girls trip and we cannot wait to return!
