The Beauty Haul Diaries: Nikki Wolff

With almost 700k followers, Nikki Wolff is Instagram’s go-to for glowing skin (@nikki_wolff). But when she’s not prepping celebrities for red carpets or packing products for shoots, what does she pack in her own suitcase kit bag?

Nikki is one of those rare breed of make-up artists that avoids the excess baggage queue and travels light – albeit with a truckload of water. Her travel mantra for amazing skin? “Just keep yourself hydrated.”

As Global Make-up Ambassador for BECCA Cosmetics with a schedule of transatlantic flights, we’re taking tips on how to pack less, without skimping on your beauty. Clue: sheet masks.

Here’s how Nikki Wolff does vacation beauty. Don’t miss the make-up hacks she uses to majorly downsize her luggage. We’re taking notes…

How do you adapt your beauty routine when you travel?

Travelling is always hard on the skin so I make sure I keep my skin full of moisture at all times. If I’m travelling somewhere cold I’ll take a richer cream, or if I’m going somewhere with hot or humid weather I might use a lighter, gel-textured moisturiser instead.

Any must-do beauty rituals and treatments before a vacation?

I try to fit in a full body exfoliation at ESPA Life spa at the Corinthia, and also a HydraFacial at the Nuriss skin clinic.

What’s the best way to downsize your beauty product haul for travel?

I find good multi-purpose products like duo cheek and lip stains or eyeshadow sticks that can be smudged as either a liner or shadow.

Do you prefer to pack travel minis or full-size beauty staples?

I prefer to take travel-size products because when you have as much to pack as much as me you need all the space you can get…

Do you have a regular plane beauty routine?

I always like to travel sans makeup and take a really hydrating sheet mask on the plane with me. Who cares if the air hostess thinks I’m nuts!

How do you overcome jet-lag skin/eyes when you land?

Sheet masks are great for this – I always take a couple with me to pop in the hotel mini bar fridge and keep my water intake up. Just keep yourself hydrated! I also add a pump of moisturiser to my foundation – it gives a more sheer, glow finish and helps to mimic the look of healthy, revived skin.

What’s your favourite country to shop for homegrown beauty products?

France, for sure. French pharmacies are always a must-visit whenever I’m in the country. They just have the best stuff.

What’s been your favourite vacation spa so far and why?

Probably the spa at the Four Seasons in Abu Dhabi – the best purely because of their masseuses who are just incredible at giving massages.

What are your top make-up tips when travelling?

Always wear an SPF. Also, if you’re travelling to a hotter climate and think you’ll tan then pack a bronzing tint or liquid to mix with your foundation. It will help keep the tone accurate to your skin but matched to a more tanned complexion so you don’t need to take two shades with you.
