This Week CF Loves

Citizen Femme Hotlist: 02.11.20

We’re adamant that November can still be totally noteworthy.

Armed with a diary’s worth of (virtual) events to help you kick start the month in style – plus the sartorial items needed to take things up a notch – we’ve cherry picked some real standouts.

From a chic virtual car boot sale raising funds for Women for Women International to the film release of Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace, here’s what we’re bookmarking this week at CF.

WATCH THIS Idiot Prayer – Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace

Following the online streaming event in July, audiences will have another chance to experience Idiot Prayer – Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace as it screens in cinemas globally from 5 November. Playing his songs at the piano in a rarely seen stripped back form, from early Bad Seeds and Grinderman, right through to the most recent Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album, Ghosteen, the film features tracks including Into My Arms, The Mercy Seat, Higgs Boson Blues and Girl In Amber plus four previously unseen performances from the July concert. The beautifully shot performance from one of the music world’s most celebrated innovators is all mystique. Find your nearest screening and buy tickets here (on sale date in US to be announced). The cinema release will be followed by an album on 20 November.

SHOP THIS Halfpenny London, Sister, Fox Dress

As ceremonies and receptions drift further away from the textbook interpretation of a wedding, so does wedding attire. Bridesmaid dresses needn’t be something you can only wear once and Halfpenny London’s Sister collection has something for everyone – from the brand’s signature separates to dresses, and even a jumpsuit – and is designed with longevity in mind. Made to be worn again and again, we love the Sister collection because it doesn’t  shout “wedding party”. Rather, the collection offers romantic flourishes –  a gentle ruffle a la the Fox Dress, for example – and a range of changeable styles (the optional detachable sleeves are genius) to flatter every shape. With new colourways – emerald and black – launching 1 November, we’re pairing our floor-skimming, jewel-toned Fox Dress with a statement shoe (made for strutting down the aisle).

SUPPORT THIS Alex Eagle x Women For Women Car Boot Sale

Hosted by Alex Eagle, in partnership with THE OUTNET and supported by DS Automobiles, the Women for Women International’s virtual car boot sale is back. Raising in excess of £77,000 at their first virtual event in May, as before, stock for the all-day fashion sale comes straight from the wardrobes of the fashion elite – from leading designers to stylish celebrities. Taking place worldwide on Saturday 7 November, Alex Eagle x Women For Women Virtual Car Boot Sale provides a great way to shop sustainably while also supporting vulnerable women through the pandemic: 100% of the proceeds from the event will go towards Women for Women International’s work with women survivors of war living in some of the world’s most dangerous places.

SHOP THIS Georgia Louise, Cryo Freeze Tools

Attempting a do-it-yourself cryofacial at home? If so, then you’ll need to invest in these handy tools (designed to depuff and awaken skin) created by celebrity facialist Georgia Louise. Famous for her lift-and-sculpt method, Georgia Louise’s beauty instruments are ideal for daily use. We swear by them first thing in the morning. To use, start in the centre of the forehead and gently glide the tools out toward your temples. Use the same technique over your entire face (using either alone or pairing with a balm or serum). The extreme cold temperature of these massage tools helps reduce inflammation, enhance dead skin cell exfoliation and strengthen skin.

DISCOVER THIS Partnership Editions, Pavements Exhibition

We’ve our ears pricked and eyes peeled with the news of Partnership Editions’ latest digital exhibition: Pavements. Pavements is presented by former Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Christabel Blackburn and focuses on the current relationship between people and architecture, exploring questions of identity. Comprised of 15 original artworks,  including works on paper and oil paintings on canvas and panel, the show previews from 28 October and will go live on 4 November. Clear the walls in readiment for your new arrival!
