Alongside knitwear and coats, boots are a cornerstone of a hard-working autumn/winter wardrobe.
As we enter the cooler months, we are starting to pick out our thicker knits and heavy-duty coats. Consequently, we are also trading in our backless loafers for weather-appropriate boots.
Knee-high boots have had a makeover, replacing the more sultry mid-thigh boots of last year. This style has long-lasting appeal and can take you seamlessly from work to play. Equestrian-inspired riding boots possess Sloaney appeal, whilst the trending Western boot works wonders with both jeans and mini dresses. The pleasingly chunky lug-sole boot we all fell in love with during lockdown 2.0 is still ever-popular, and is the perfect weekend wardrobe hero. Flat Chelsea boots continue to reign supreme, and are the footwear of choice to take the edge off autumn floral dresses.
When it comes to the palette, brown and black are fail-safe classic options; however, a coloured sole à la Bottega Veneta can add a point of interest. Likewise, a muted snakeskin print – such as Paris Texas’ slouchy boots – is an alternative neutral to work with a multitude of outfits.
