The CF Checklist: July 2022

It’s time to plan your sartorial calendar, aided by July’s dose of The CF Checklist.

All the ‘out of office’ essentials you need for a well-dressed summer. Happy scrolling…

THE SUMMER TOTE

If you've reached peak basket bag fatigue, opt for this Mehry Mu tote as an alternative for beach days and picnics. Constructed from glossy satin rope, this sunny gold and white tote is the chicest way to stow away the day's essentials.

THE ZODIAC JEWELLERY

We were already besotted with Cece Jewellery: each piece is like a miniature canvas adorned with hand-painted ceramic odes to folklore, spirtualism, and symbolism. The new Star Sign collection pays homage to the zodiac; each signet ring or pendant features mythical creatures and star constellations adorned with diamonds and pearls. The very definition of conversation-starting jewellery.

THE PARTY TOP

If you're jetting off to Mykonos or Ibiza this summer, one item that will work very hard for you is a party top. Whether dressed up with a silk slip skirt, or dressed down with denim shorts, it fits the brief for hedonist summer nights. I'm coveting this iteration from Jordanian-based demi-couture label, Nafsika Skourti. With a sculpted boned-bodice and frothy organza which unfurls off the shoulders, it adds the perfect dose of drama.

THE EFFORTLESS SANDALS

A statement pair of sandals are every summer wardrobe's best friends and Miyana Berlin are celebrating the return to travel with their simply chic summer collection. The Fleur is a barely there sandal with a twist: crafted from sumptuous Italian leather, gladiator-style laces can be tied around the ankle or spiral up the leg. The German label goes up to an EU 45 too; offering elegance at any shoe size.

THE BRAND TO KNOW

FARM Rio may have become the biggest fashion export since launcing in the 90s in Rio de Janeiro, now they have landed in Liberty London for the summer in a welcome splash of unapologetic colour. Think crochet, maximalist embroiderery, and exuberant hand-painted prints. We're coveting these dopamine-inducing crochet shorts which will pop against a simple white vest for easy beachy glam.

THE LINEN DRESS

We don't like to bandy around the phrase 'perfect summer dress' – however we're struggling to find a better description for this breezy linen dress from Reformation. The scalloped corset bodice and delicate floral design is undeniably romantic, ensuring all eyes will be on you. As for the silhouette: it's ultra flattering (like all Ref dresses). The fit-and-flare shape is constructed from stretchy linen to ensure structure yet breezy comfort making it ideal for myriad summer plans, from lazy lunches and garden parties, to destination weddings and beyond.

THE SWIMWEAR

If you are looking for swimwear that fits and flatters like a second skin, it's time to become acquainted with Medina. Founded by former Celine pattern-maker, Lou Medina, designs are tailored impeccably in a sophisticated palette of neutrals. The brand has strong eco-credentials too, using 78% regenerated nylon, which is kinder for the environent – and, side note, offers superlative stretch. We love the Volley swimsuit, with a leg-lengthening high bikini cut and sculpting waist belt.

THE SILK MIDI SKIRT

HARMUR's chic silk separates are perfect for day to night summer dressing. This fluid 100% silk maxi dress is ultra-feminine. Pair with one of the brand's signature backless silk tops to add a sultry edge to an otherwise demure silhouette. I'll be pairing mine with a pop of hot pink.

THE SUMMER CARDIGAN

You may not think so from the current heatwave, but lightweight knits are a summer wardrobe stalwart – perfect for layering atop slip dresses and t-shirts when the evening temperatures dip. Hayley Menzies is the go-to for statement knitwear, and this pretty scalloped cardigan is no exception. In a soft mohair fabrication, with exquisitve applique flower and palm leave detailing, we won't begrudge slipping this on.
