This Week CF Loves: 18.12.23

The champagne is on ice, and the champagne is embroidered onto your bag, all in the name of celebration.

If you’ve taken a few days off, book yourself into this immersive exhibition, courtesy of Hollywood, and get creative at home or at the ‘School of Icing’ (yes, it exists). And, make sure to head on over to Instagram to enter our latest competitions (from a trip to the Maldives to tasty treats for your Christmas table). This is what we are loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.

Moonwalkers - Last day of press launch

SEE THIS The Moonwalkers: A Journey With Tom Hanks, Lightroom

The Lightroom is turning around many a spectacular exhibition in its subterranean, four-storey space in King’s Cross, most recently, David Hockney: Bigger and Closer. The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, the new Lightroom immersive show, takes you back to the time when space was the limit. The project is, in fact, the actor’s brainchild; the idea came to him while visiting the Lightroom a couple of months ago. ‘You could go to the Moon here’, he thought. Tom Hanks co-wrote The Moonwalkers with Christopher Riley, and combining original film, still images, animation, and spectacular light and sound effects, they retell the story of the Apollo missions to the moon, resulting in an engrossing, uplifting, and flawless 50-minute spectacle that owes as much to theatre as it does documentary. Everyone on earth has looked up in wonder at the moon and imagined the possibilities, the Hollywood actor says, but only 12 people have walked on it. With Hanks himself providing the voiceover, accompanied by an original score by Anne Nikitin, The Moonwalkers is an undeniable visual must-see.

DO THIS Biscuiteers Icing Classes

Have you ever scrolled through the Biscuiteers instagram account? There is something innately satisyfing about watching the experts ice the cookies. Now its your chance to get creative.. and Christmas week couldn’t be a better time. Order yourself a Hansel and Gretel style DIY Gingerbread House Kit, presented in a beautiful tin box, with 6 pre-baked gingerbread house pieces, royal icing, piping bags, a set of sweet decorations and a step-by-step guide. You’re unlikely to have any crumbs left after this one.

And if this whet the appetite, you can also book in with the School of Icing masterclasses with classes inspired by different festive themes in the run up to Christmas (Nutcracker themed, Christmas Hamper themed etc).

USE THIS Guerlain Terracotta Golden Leopard

Christmas party make-up doesn’t always mean sparkle. Glowy, vibrant skin is the perfect party makeup look, as it really goes with everything. For a glowing, iridescent shimmer, Violette, Guerlain Make-up Creative Director, has created an exclusive shade of the legendary 03 Terracotta Bronzing Powder: Terracotta Golden Leopard. The festive leopard print delicately sprayed with golden mother-of-pearls instantly fuses with skin to provide a fresh and lively healthy glow finish. Natural-origin Moroccan flower honey finishes off the ingredients base to maintain the skin’s hydration. Let the night continue as long as your glow does. With just a hint of stunning shimmer, this bronzer sits lightly on top of base makeup for a natural, sun kissed look.

STAY HERE Cliveden House, Berkshire

Undoubtedly one of England’s finest country manors, Cliveden House in Berkshire, a Relais & Châteaux property, puts on quite the Christmas spectacle. As is now quite well know, this legendary venue has hosted plenty a glamorous party,  so you can expect it all – and more – from their house party blowouts. Book ahead to New Year. Arrive in style on the 31st knowing that the Champagne’s on ice ready for the celebrations to begin. A decadent afternoon tea followed by a pre-pampering session at the Cliveden Spa is what will welcome you that day, followed by an evening of delicious feasting accompanied by a live band and disco to welcome in 2024. And – of course – a rendition of Auld Lang Syne and a traditional piper at the stroke of midnight. The 1st of January is all about a brunch buffet. Yes that’s brunch, not breakfast, since the night before may well have involved some over-indulgence. A walk around the grounds to take in some fresh air, and an evening Champagne and canapés drinks reception followed by a delightful three-course dinner with wine, is all you need to round off your festive break.

BUY THIS Olympia Le-Tan 'The Art of Drinking Champagne'

Since its launch in 2009, Olympia Le-Tan has become a firm fashion industry favourite, beloved by many for its unique way of reimagining classic book covers and artworks into wearable artisanal clutch bags and accessories. The daughter of famous French illustrator Pierre Le-Tan, she grew up attending tea parties, taking painting lessons, and paging through her father’s extensive library, so its no wonder her popular collection of embroidered clutches bring to fashion whimsical book covers and stoytelling. Exclusively with Net-a-Porter, Olympia Le-Tan’s ‘The Art of Drinking Champagne’ clutch is fit for your next celebration (for the party season, and really any party throughout the year) . Handmade from canvas and appliquéd with a figure submerged in a glass of bubbly, the gold-tone frame mimics the gilt-edged book in her hand. The back is also embroidered with the edition number, so each item is as individual as you (or the person you are gifting).
