Things To Do This May: What The CF Team Are Loving

Spring is in the air and the Citizen Femme team’s calendar is filled with exciting things to do this May.

Including places to eat and stay, plus things to buy, watch and try – this is the ultimate inspiration to see you through the month.

EAT I love mango season, especially Alphonso mangos. Jamavar, one of my favourite Indian restaurants in London, has a fab mango-infused menu I urge you to try. TRY As a big fan of boxing, I’ve rather ambitiously signed up for KOBOX’s Fight Club challenge over seven days. WEAR Le Monde Beryl denim Mary Jane ballet flats; very cute pumps to throw on with jeans and a shirt and run around town. VISIT The Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, this year it celebrates its 25th anniversary. SLEEP In the Skims cotton ribbed boxer and T-shirt, so utterly comfortable and lightweight for the warmer months ahead. ENJOY I plan on terrace hopping at these various sun-soaked terraces throughout London.

STAY I’m going to Malta for a few days on a girls’ trip with my mum, which we try and do once a year. We’ll be staying at the beautiful Corinthia Palace, an idyllic base to explore the island’s magic. EAT At Café Petiole, by celebrated vegan chef, Rishim Sachdeva. Find it at Somerset House. BUY The perfect chic travel look from Deiji Studios; I can see myself wearing this comfy set on repeat this summer and will be pairing it with my taupe suede Birkenstock Arizona sandals and a basket bag. TRY Ultra Violette’s SPF50 Daydream Screen. I don’t like wearing foundation so was looking for a lightweight tinted SPF product, and this one is my new favourite. It gives good coverage whilst still giving you a glow. I’m hooked. WATCH If you loved Idris Elba’s Hijack, watch ITV’s Red Eye – a six-part thriller set on a plane that’s flying from London to Beijing. I binged it in one day.

PLAN A road trip with a friend, around the Greek Peloponnese and stopping at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Ancient Olympia and Mycenae. BUY Some new sunglasses. I have so many pairs already but am never without them during the summer months, so I think another purchase is justifiable. I love the Italian-made, round-frame design of this design from Persol. TRY A solo-spa day. I’m taking advice from our beauty editor on how to do it properly. READ Victoria Hislop’s The Island, a fictional tale about the real island of Spinalonga, just off the coast of mainland Crete. In the early to mid-1900s, Spinalonga housed people with leprosy and you can visit to see where the community lived and worked. I once sailed around it but now want to visit it on foot. WEAR Any of the powder blue pieces in this guide to spring/summer trends. The colour is a forever-favourite of mine, so I’m all too happy to stock up…

STAY At Crown Towers Sydney (or more correctly, dream about it). After a long flight from London, access to the city’s only infinity pool and a pampering treatment in the spa would be the perfect tonic for my jet lag. BUY New trainers as I start my training plan for my next 100km ultra marathon. I’ve yet to find a pair I love as much as the super supportive Asics Gel Nimbus 26DRINK More water, especially when I’m travelling. This self-cleaning bottle from Larq should help me do it. TRY To do my own gel manicures at-home using a LED lamp, such as this one from Mylee. I’ve been inspired after researching for a piece about itBOOK Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York) – an incredibly funny two-person musical that explores modern relationships. It’s on at The Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly.

STAY At Estelle Manor for a weekend away with my husband. I’m looking forward to a massage and can’t wait to spend the afternoon at the gorgeous Eynsham Baths. We will be having dinner in the Brassiere restaurant which looks like a fun spot for date night. WEAR I’m so ready to ditch the winter clothes and start wearing more summery outfits, like this floral jumpsuit that I bought from Farm Rio. Nothing says summer more than a fun, bright print. SEE James Corden and Anna Maxwell Martin in The Constituent at the Old Vic. I love anything that has a hint of politics in it. VISIT The Chelsea Flower Show, which marks the start of the summer season. This year it’s particularly special for me as one of my dear friends has a show garden. I expect to carry lots of little plants home. EAT My birthday is in May so I’m planning dinner with friends at Joséphine, the brand-new little bistro on Fulham Road that’s getting rave reviews. READ Plum Sykes’ wickedly funny new book Wives Like Us.

STAY I’m heading to Marbella for a much-needed, luxurious stay at the Puente Romano Beach Resort. EAT While planning my upcoming trip to Dubai, I’m especially excited to try the famed banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery. BUY These pink Gucci slides; the ultimate addition to my spring and summer wardrobe, and perfect for sunny days ahead. WATCH Buying London on Netflix. It follows luxury estate agent Daniel Daggers and his team as they delve into London’s real estate market. TRY I love all REFY products, so I’m thrilled about the launch of REFY’s new concealer on 2 May. This concealer is available in 24 shades and combines the benefits of an eye cream, brightener, and concealer into one.

WATCH Baby Reindeer on Netflix. Captivating and haunting, you’ll binge it in one sitting. SEE Whichever movie we fancy when we take over the private screening room at The Peninsula Hotel in London. EAT Dinner at The Twenty Two hotel, which continues to be my favourite; don’t leave without trying their martinis. BUY Vintage luxury at Sign of the Times in Chelsea, they have the best curation of designer goods. TRY Goop has launched at Oh My Cream and I love their Instant Glow Exfoliator.

STAY I’m visiting New York for the first time this month and I have not been more excited about something in a long time! There’s so much I’d like to do and see, with a visit to The Costume Institute at The Met Museum at the top of my list. WATCH I’d love to get hold of tickets for the New York City Ballet; the All Stravinsky show looks beautiful. READ A Woman’s Story by Annie Ernauxwas just released. Honest and intimate, the novel navigates the bond between mother and daughter as the relationship becomes fraught with the challenges of age and illness. SHOP New York-based hair accessory designer Lelet. As a fan of chunky jewellery, these glossy dome hair cuffs caught my eye. They give the illusion of wearing a bangle in your ponytail. BUY (Well, dream of buying) the gorgeous Margaux bag from The Row – suede is in, and the chic shape of this bag is timeless.
