If you’re looking ahead to sunny days with your little one(s), take inspiration from the Citizen Enfants team and some of our mum friends. These are some of the best things to do with children this spring.
The clocks have gone forward and spring has sprung – and London has plenty of springtime activities for all. Take the children to a Peter Rabbit-themed afternoon tea at The Peninsula, to see their first ballet, or for a wander around Kew Gardens amongst fresh, seasonal blooms. It’s also a great time of the year for trips abroad – to sunny or snowy climes. These are some of the best things to do with children this spring.

STAY In London. Having been away for three weeks I’m looking forward to enjoying London again, in all its spring glory. WATCH I’m taking my kids to see My First Ballet: Swan Lake at Peacock Theatre and I’m possibly more excited than they are! GO To Battersea Power Station, which has tons of family-friendly activities on offer over April. VISIT While the holidays are on, we will take a day trip to Legoland for our first adventure there. LISTEN I’m really enjoying audiobooks and manage to get through them quickly as I’m doing errands, running or en route to meetings. These three are on my April listening list: How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen (A Survival Guide to Life with Children Ages 2-7), The Danish Way of Parenting (discovering the parenting secrets of the happiest people in the world), and The Whole-Brain Child.

STAY I recently stayed at No 15 Guest House Bath with my youngest son and would highly recommend it. We had a suite for three with a little cabin bed that he loved. It’s a beautiful property in the centre of Bath, and is very welcoming and accommodating of children. Perfect for a family weekend away. BUY Izipizi make the coolest sunglasses for kids, and I love their latest collaboration with French brand Bonpoint. EAT My kids love sushi so I’m going to take them to a Kids’n’Sushi masterclass at Sticks’n’Sushi on King’s Road, where they will be taught to make Kappa Hosomaki rolls and Pink Alaska Uramaki during their 90-minute session. BOOK The new Paddington Bear Experience opens at the end of May but tickets are already selling out fast. Located on the South Bank, it’s set to be a wonderfully exciting journey into the famous bear’s world. PLAY I’m taking my older sons and their friends to Puttshack for crazy golf with a difference. The perfect place to hang out with teens.

WEAR My children will be in Amaia x Lison Paris’ cute swim collection for pool days this spring. This swimsuit and kaftan are top of my list. Do In celebration of the beloved children’s book character, The Peninsula has created an exclusive Peter Rabbit-inspired Afternoon Tea, alongside a specially-themed room package and family-friendly cinema experiences until April 28. Just delightful! BUY The most beautiful party shoes for girls from Age of Innocence. I also chose these summer espadrilles for my youngest. TRAVEL We’re currently in Marrakech! Wandering the medina with two young children isn’t easy, but seeing the looks of excitement on their faces is worth it. PACK One of my daughters, Olimpia, has her own lilac suitcase from Nere, which she’s very excited about using.

Travel To Porto for what we hope will be some sunshine. In order to keep everyone happy, we’ve booked a tour of Porto’s football stadium, tickets to visit the famous Art Nouveau bookshop Livraria Lello, and plan to imbibe many, many pastéis de nata. BOOK I was given V&A membership for Christmas and have been making the most of it: I’m taking my daughter to see Naomi in Fashion and both children will enjoy Japan: Myths to Manga at the Young V&A. EAT At this time of year, we love The Yard in the Candover Valley for excellent coffee and homemade cake after a countryside walk. VISIT The Winchester Books Festival (19-21 April) – I’m talking to the legendary Daisy Goodwin about her new book, Diva, and the whole programme is excellent, with several events for children. SHOP For wallpaper. I’m currently obsessing over Barnaby Gates and Ottoline Devries. READ Coco Mellors’ Blue Sisters and Carly Fortune’s This Summer Will Be Different. I’m always buying books for my children: my 13-year-old daughter is devouring Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing, and my nine-year-old son is chuckling over the Kid Normal series.

STAY At Six Senses Crans Montana in Switzerland. This is the ultimate alpine-chic place to stay. For those who prefer spa over ski, there is an array of wellness treatments as well as swimming pools, plunge pools, steam rooms, yoga studios and a bio-hack recovery centre for muscle treatments. WEAR I have been adding pieces to my ski suitcase for the past few weeks; they include Perfect Moment skiwear, Inuikii snow boots, Calzedonia lined leather leggings, Free People ski jumpers and Varley’s super soft layers. DO Snow tubing, the kids are so excited about a week of snow and I can’t wait to see their faces when we go tubing. Perfect for thrill seekers. BUY Age of Innocence ankle fur-lined boots for the kids, for our week in the mountains, and cute pastel colour Mary Janes for summer. VISIT Kew Gardens in London – it’s the best time of year for all the family to visit and see the beautiful gardens and flowers in bloom. If you become a member, they have lots of interactive events lined up such as outdoor theatre productions, wellbeing sessions, wine walks and silent discos.
