The CF Checklist: June

It’s time to plan your sartorial calendar, aided by your monthly dose of The CF Checklist.

It won’t have escaped your notice that we are finally in the midst of a heatwave, hoorah! It’s time to relinquish those sad jumpers and leggings we’ve been reluctantly wearing and embrace a holiday spirit. From chic linen co-ords, to the ‘It’ dress of the summer, these are the pieces on CF’s Fashion Editor’s checklist for June.

THE LINEN CO-ORD

We have a serious penchant for Australian fashion brands here at CF – they just get chic summerwear so right. I am particularly lusting after Posse right now. The Sydney-based label specialises in pared-back, minimalist linen pieces in cream, black, and rust hues. This co-ord is top of my list to wear the minute temperatures creep up to 25 degrees. The crop-top pairs perfectly with this corresponding over-sized flare to play with proportions.

THE SELL-OUT DRESS

KITRI cleverly mastered the formula for the perfect summer dress with the Margot. It dominated Instagram during summer 2020, worn by an army of well-dressed influencers. With a slightly puffed sleeve, cinched waist and full, midi-skirt it truly was the perfect silhouette for balmy summer days. If you missed out, fear not, it has been re-introduced in the original green gingham iteration, as well as a host of other colourways and patterns. With a 1,000-strong waiting list, it's time to join the queue.

THE CHIC BAG

Whilst we love a straw basket bag, frankly so does everyone else. So, to stand out from the crowd we suggest this leather tote for your next picnic or beach day. The emerging Scandi label, Little Liffner, has garnered quite a cult following thanks to their minimalist, sleek designs, and we love the brand new No Hands Tulip Tote. Rendered in chic brown leather, with the brands' signature undulating silhouette, it has all the style signatures of a modern 'It' bag.

THE CABANA SHIRT

This Cabana shirt from With Nothing Underneath is giving us serious nostalgia for holidays spent on the British coast, so it's perfect for staycation wardrobes. In a relaxed silhouette, a reflection of the brand's much-loved Boyfriend shirt, it looks just as chic buttoned up as worn undone over a vest or swimsuit.

THE ROPE SANDALS

A hero pair of sandals is always a tricky buy summer after summer. I mull over various styles, often going for something understated. This year, however, this rope pair from Chanel are top of my list. The monochrome palette is super versatile for myriad outfits and the criss-cross detailing is statement enough to elevate the simplest of ensemble. With a chic platform sole, they will be endlessly comfortable wherever I roam.

THE SILK SHORTS

MATCHESFASHION's Dressing For Sun campaign is serving serious hot-weather outfit inspiration for anyone struggling to get dressed following endless months of jumpers and leggings on repeat. Expect effortlessly stylish seperates that work as well for summer in the city, as staycations, and further afield. These La DoubleJ silk shorts are the endorphin-boosting purchase at the top of my list. I adore the maximalist swirling design and will pair them with a sleek, white vest to accentuate the detail. Whilst the print is shouty, the silhouette is super flattering, adding a good inch to legs thanks to the high-rise waist and wide-cut leg.

THE SWIMSUIT

Whether your sunning yourself in your garden in the suburbs, hot-footing it to the rooftop of Soho House White City, or jetting off to sunnier climes, a new swimsuit is always a happy-making purchase. One brand that can always be relied upon for eye-catching swimwear (that also fits like a dream) is Solid & Striped. This candy-striped swimsuit is super flattering with a high leg and cinching belt. This is seriously main-grid worthy.

THE SUMMER JACKET

A denim jacket is a nifty wardrobe essential for when the temperature drops come evening. The latest collaboration between 7 For All Mankind and Marques Almeida is a vision of elevated denim pieces cultivated from deadstock fabric. This patchwork jacket comes in a nonchalant oversized fit so is perfect for slipping over light base layers.

THE JEWELLERY

I'm a self-confessed magpie when it comes to jewellery, particularly rings, and I've thought of not much else apart from this Berlin ring by Minka Jewels since clapping eyes on it. With an octagon-cut green tourmaline set into a pleasingly chunky 18ct, yellow-gold ring, it would sit pride of place on my index finger for all to admire.
