What The CF Team Are Loving This August

Summer is going by with a blink of an eye, but there’s still time to enjoy unique activities and delicious dining.

Welcome to the Citizen Femme team’s list of things and places to eat, stay, buy, watch and try this August. This is the ultimate inspiration to see you into the new month.

BUY I’m looking forward to getting back into running again, and my new shoes from Allbirds, The Tree Flyer 2 have great stability and grip that will help me hit the ground running – literally! WEAR My summer sunglasses from Bloobloom, blue jeans, white shirt, accessorised with MEJURI’s very wearable jewellery (I’m a particular fan of the Charlotte Slim Enamel Ring and letter necklaces) and I’m good to go. DO The Happy Hormone Equilibrium Massage at Ilapothecary. It’s a back massage using essential oils to help balance the hormone system, ideal having just had a baby. SEE The Effect at the National Theatre, written by the brilliant Lucy Prebble, it’s a clever romcom about two young people who fall for each other during a lab trial – but can’t tell if it’s love or just the drugs talking.

STAY I’m heading for a long weekend at a new boutique hotel called IZZA in Marrakech. It’s one of my favourite cities so I can’t wait to go back and explore more magic. BUY Addison Ross’ new very fun Twister Salt and Pepper Grinders available in 12 colours. They’re certain to be a conversation starter at dinner parties and make cooking more fun. EAT At WAVE in Hackney, a vegan-everything cafe with an impressive plant-based brunch menu and sunny outdoor terrace. DRINK A Pomello and Elderflower apéritif by POMELLO, perfect for making zesty-weekend cocktails this summer. And if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic refresher, GAIL’s new iced teas are great to slurp too. Darjeeling, Elderflower and Sage Iced Tea is my pick. READ Roxie Nafousi’s Manifest: 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life is a great read for those interested in self development.

STAY I’m still making plans, but this hotel in Umbria has caught my eye for its rustic charm and impressive dining options. BUY After much wear and tear, it’s time I invest in new luggage tags. I’ve got my eye on this Smythson Panama Neon version because it will help me identify my suitcase easily on the luggage carousel. EAT At Najma, a new Lebanese restaurant at the Intercontinental London Park Lane. I’m excited to try the spiced beef with hummus and labneh with the taboulleh as a main, and the maamoul for dessert. TRY I’m looking for a summer-scent for my home, and this Paul Smith Sunseeker Candle seems like it will fit the bill well. READ After a month island-hopping in Greece, the Assouline Greek Islands book is a must for my coffee table.

STAY Seeing as the British weather is looking gloomy this month, I’m escaping to the dreamy Villa Seburga, just outside the town of Saint-Paul-De-Vence in the South of France, with an infinity pool heated to 30 degrees and incredible views. EAT While I’m in the area, I’ll head for lunch at the Maybourne Riviera’s stylish new beach club, Maybourne La Plage, to feast on lobster pasta and other seafood delights before a dip in the sea. BUY Our fashion editor Gemma’s list of the best beach bags to shop now has got me reaching for my credit card. WATCH Forget the over-hyped Barbie, I can’t wait to see Oppenheimer, not least because of its stellar cast including Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt. BEAUTY I’ve just discovered the LYMA Laser – the beauty set’s at-home tool of choice for tackling wrinkles and improving skin tone. VISIT I’m keeping my godchildren entertained this summer with trips on the Terrible Thames boat tour, a fun 45-minutes of gruesome facts and riverside sights for those familiar with the Horrible Histories books.

STAY At Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa in Cheshire, to experience the limited-edition ELEMIS Rose Champagne Spa Day, complete with an uber-hydrating facial using the brand’s Rose Micro Serum, and afternoon tea for two. BUY A mid-cased suitcase that’s suitable for week-long holidays, so I don’t keep cramming everything into my cabin bag. Australian brand Nere have just launched in the UK, and I am eyeing up the Stori for my next trip. EAT, DRINK AND SHOP At Ben’s Yard in East Cambridgeshire. The new rural retail village near Ely celebrates local British businesses and the seasonally-inspired dishes at Ben’s Yard Restaurant are worth a trip on their own. TRY Laser hair removal at the Phi Clinic on Harley Street as part of my pre-summer holiday prep. They use Alma’s Soprano Titanium device that’s safe for all hair types and skin tones. WATCH A summer of brilliant female sport: as well as catching up with the Women’s Football World Cup, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that the England Roses make it to the Netball World Cup final.

BUY Paper London have just released a nautical capsule collection that is perfect for August holidays and I love this white and navy co-ord. EAT Summer dinners at one of my favourite restaurants, 34 in Mayfair – they have a beautiful partnership with Floris at the moment, with drinks and menus scented with signature fragrances. STAY We booked a getaway through Unique Home Stays and will be spending a week in Sussex in August. I hope the weather will be on our side. WEAR A chunky gold necklace from By Anisa Sojka x Juliet Angus with a simple white t-shirt or shirt.

STAY We are off to the stunning Peloponnese coast in Greece for a big multi-generational family holiday. We are staying at the fabulous five-star The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino which has something for all ages to enjoy. It’s the water sports and spa that I’m most excited about. WEAR I’m always on the lookout for easy summer dresses that I can throw on over a bikini and Mara Hoffman has the perfect one. Her classic Sydney dress is blue is coming with me to Greece. EAT The bottomless pasta and prosecco at Osteria Mbare in Clapham. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy some delicious Italian cuisine while sipping on bubbles. BEAUTY I recently discovered my newest skincare obsession – vitamin K. It offers some fantastic antioxidant properties, targets dark spots and helps fade under-eye circles. I highly recommend trying the Biopelle Dark Circle Relief Cream. BUY I’m hosting a brunch with some friends and I have my eye on these pretty wine glasses from Soho House. It’s always the little things for me; small touches make a big difference, especially when it comes to tableware. VISIT I’m planning a fun day out with the family and have decided to take my younger siblings to Gulliver’s Land Theme Park Resort. I know they’ll have a blast with all the exciting adventures and rides. TRY The Ice Cream Project by Anya Hindmarch which closes at the end of the month.
