What CF's Beauty Editor Is Shopping This August

With a host of new products passing across her desk each month, Citizen Femme’s beauty editor Becki Murray has tried and tested the very best August beauty launches to select those worth adding to your routine.

Whatever climate you might be jetting off to this month, highlights include the number one tinted moisturiser in the US – that is finally available in the UK – and Guerlain’s nourishing treat for post-holiday hair. These are the August beauty launches to buy this month.

THE COLLECTOR'S ITEM

What makes a Charlotte Tilbury product even more covetable? A collaboration with Disney for the animation studio's 100th anniversary certainly helps. As well as limited edition versions of her best-selling highlighters and Magic Cream, I predict that this chic bejewelled case will be a sell-out success. My advice: get one before they're gone.

THE HAIR RESET

If like mine, your hair has a tendancy to get really dry, especially at the ends, after a summer of sunshine and ocean swimming, this mask will make repairing the damage much less of a chore. The silky formula – which smells incredible – means my hair has hardly ever felt more soft, shiny and smooth.

Add this silky-textured hair mask to your post-holiday haircare routine, and your hair will feel softer and smoother in no time.

THE SETTING POWDER

Setting powder can feel like a necessity in the summertime, particularly for anyone who tends to get an oily T-zone, but with this one you get the benefits without compromising on skin finish. In fact, you won't notice you are wearing it, until you realise how well your makeup is lasting throughout the day.

THE US EXPORT

The product that British beauty editors have jealously watched their American counterparts fall in love with is finally available in the UK. The solution for those who prefer an oil-free matte finish, but still want a longwearing, lightweight tint, this is the SPF-containing formula to upgrade your makeup bag with this summer.

THE HIGH-TECH TOOTHBRUSH

When was the last time you upgraded your toothbrush? If, like a lot of people, you don't even remember, Oral-B's newest launch couldn't come at a better time. New technology now powers the brushes' micro-vibrating bristles, resulting in a deeper clean for your teeth and gums, while three modes and a gum pressure sensor means its thorough without being painful.

THE HOLIDAY IN A BOTTLE

While Escentric Molecules is normally known for scents that tantalise with their softness, this fragrance is pure escapism, with powerful accords of wood, leather and musk mingling with fruity zests. To transport yourself to the deserts of Abu Dhabi, wear it on warm evenings and the aroma really dazzles.

The right summer fragrance can transport you without even stepping onto a plane, and this powerful aroma will elevate any outfit you choose to wear on your holidays.

THE SUNNY BLUSH

Rihanna's creamy blushers have been a summer staple for me since they first launched, especially because they're super easy to blend into the skin over a lightweight tint. Now, there are even more shades to choose from for a skin tone-matching finish. I love this super-subtle pinky tone in particular.

THE TRENDING BROW PRODUCT

After the social media explosion of UKBrow's brow-conditioning serum (and yes, I'd recommend it), the brand is now on hand to help with defining your eyes too. In fact, this precision-nipped pencil makes the natural-looking tinting and shaping of your brows a one-step process.

THE BODY CREAM

Ameliorate's award-winning body cream that makes light work of dry, scaly skin, especially on your arms and legs, now comes in a coccooning vanilla and tonka scent. It's ability to both exfoliate and moisturise in one swoop makes the prospect of summer holiday prep a little more indulgent.

THE NEW NAIL INNOVATION

At-home manicures have just become a lot more long-lasting with Alûstre's innovative new nailcare formulas that utilises extracts of diamonds to help resist chipping. Pack this top coat for your next trip and you'll have a chip-free, glossy mani-pedi for every day of your holiday.

THE SUMMER SHIMMER

Gisou's incredibly nourishing honey-enriched body oil, which I trust already to hydrate and firm my skin, now has a version with added shimmer to add a flattering glow-boosting sheen to your limbs. There's a travel-sized option too, so you can fake your way to a healthy glow all the way through your summer travels.

THE BATHTIME TREAT

Don't forget to take a moment to unwind during the busy summer period – whether that's trying meditation, yoga or just having a long soak in the bath. If, like me, it's probably going to be the latter, upgrade the experience with Scottish-born Moo & Yoo's mineral-rich bath salts. You'll emerge with softer skin, loosened muscles and a feeling of calm.

THE DEFINING LIP GLOSS

Aimee Connolly constantly solves makeup niggles with her product line and she's done it again with this cross between a lip gloss and liner. Perfect to slim-line your makeup bag when you travel, the clever two-in-one design means you can start by fully defining your pout and then top it off with a super-glossy finish using just one product.

THE RADIANT TINT

You can read my full review of what I'm predicting will be one of this year's most popular skin tints here, but, in summary, you'll love it because it's lightweight, longwearing and makes your skin really glow.
