This Week CF Loves

This Week CF Loves: 29.01.24

We’ve got the travel bug this month. This highly anticipated wellness brand opens up in Mexico, our denim wardrobe essential is from Los Angeles and one of my personal favourite restaurants launches a monthly series of rotating chefs with their own global spin on this pastry.

Add some face yoga and body pilates, and we have a fully packed week of what to do, buy, book and eat. This is what we are loving in this week’s Citizen Femme hotlist.

TRY THIS Almore Botanica face yoga

Unlock your super skin with yoga for your face and Ayurvedic brand Almora Botanica. This isn’t a new phenomenon, no. The technique involving massage and exercises that stimulate the muscles, skin, and lymphatic system – well-known from FaceGym, MZ Skin‘s gold-toned facial roller and plenty of jade rollers and gua sha accessories – is a skincare secret weapon. Yoga for your face is one of 2024’s Ins,  reflecting the modern appeal for the facial exercise with a rich history. Almora Botanica, one of the authorities on the technique, is offer self-administered classes and hands-on facials, while the gift kit partners their jade gua sha mushrooms with the Radiance Day face oil to help elevate your ‘facial fitness’ practice at home. Book in to the 2 week pop-up at renowned wellness clinic and pharmacy John Bell & Croydon, so you can experience and learn the natural, non-invasive approach said to leave skin radiant and glowing.

EAT HERE The Barbary Next Door

Starting this week, The Barbary Next Door is welcoming guest chefs to put their spin on the humble boreka. Featuring on the menu for a month at a time, each month will have guest chefs creating their own boreka as a daytime special to eat in or take away, showcasing each chef’s unique origins & flavours. But you’ll have to be quick, as only a limited number are being made fresh each morning and served throughout the day until they’re gone. February kicks off with cult New York bagel slingers It’s Bagels!, before Jacob Kenedy of bustling Soho trattoria Bocca di Lupo takes centre stage with his homage to beautiful Italian produce, allowing the simple flavours of Ricotta, Lemon, Pecorino and Pepper to shine.

TONE UP WITH THIS Reformcore

With wellness trends honing in on low-impact, muscle-toning workouts, Reformer Pilates and barre fitness are as popular as ever. Innovatively combining the strengthening elements of the two, Reformcore has just opened its doors on King’s Road, Chelsea offering a state-of-the-art studio where ten Reformer Pilates machines and expert trainers take  you through fifty-minute low-light and high-energy sessions. This new fitness concept by the team behind the highly popular Barrecore, Boom Cycle and triyoga, similarly targets core strength, endurance and the mind-body connection. Expect deep-burns from muscular endurance and strengthening exercises, high-energy movements and a curated playlist lending to lean muscle and endorphin rushes. Designed to “celebrate the joy of moving together” four additional Reformcore locations are set to open across London this year, bringing this transformative and fun workout to the whole city.

VISIT THIS SHA Mexico

Pioneering wellness brand, SHA has opened its highly anticipated Mexico outpost, located in the state of Quintana Roo, in the eastern portion of the Yucatán Peninsula. Building on the success of its flagship clinic in Spain, each health programme will be curated to meet the guests’ needs and goals through nine key disciplines: healthy nutrition, preventive & well-ageing, holistic medicine, cognitive stimulation, advanced preventive diagnostics, wellbeing & inner balance, physical performance, and healthy living academy which all come together to form what has become known as the SHA Method. Guests will choose between four personalised health programmes (which will mimic that of those in SHA’s Spanish outpost and range from four to 21 days). The property itself seamlessly blends the indoors with the outdoors with an organic, sustainable and contemporary feel. Lush tropical gardens have been curated alongside its own stretch of white sand beach, sitting across from the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere, a marine ecosystem of protected species. The complex itself will be made up of 35 residences and 100 ocean front rooms & suites, each with private balconies that feature panoramic vistas of the turquoise Caribbean Sea and luxurious bathrooms, all fitted with rain showers.

BUY THIS Clare V. x MOTHER denim Collaboration

L.A.-based brands MOTHER and Clare V. have come together in an homage to Los Angeles, producing a limited-edition capsule celebrating the brands’ shared love for their hometown and a commitment to local craftsmanship. As women-led brands, the founders selected the Los Angeles nonprofit the Downtown Women’s Center as beneficiaries of their capsule partnership. The 10-piece apparel and accessories capsule seamlessly weaves together the two brands’ personalities — MOTHER’s rebellious California spirit and Clare V.’s French-leaning indie vibe. The capsule’s denim pieces bring a French tailoring aspect (think pleated trousers, a cinched vest and quintessential striped button down) and are meant to be mixed and matched with the capsule’s accessories – Petit Bateau, Le Fanny Pack & more — which pull in an exclusive MOTHER print and detailing.
