Family Experience Of The Month: Babylon Park Indoor Theme Park

For a thrilling day out – that avoids the cold winter weather, but doesn’t miss out on excitement – step into the fun world of Babylon Park.

An indoor theme park for kids, this awesome undercover world of play is tucked away in the heart of Camden. Citizen Enfants checks out why it’s such a super hang-out for kids of all ages. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Babylon Park?

Think of a UK theme park and large, sprawling sites like Legoland or Alton Towers spring to mind. But for a smaller, more unusual experience visit Babylon Park in the heart of Camden. Completely indoors, this galactic-themed playground is spread over three floors and is packed with rides and activities. From a roller coaster to a tower drop and bumper cars for older kids, to a flying-alien ride and mini Ferris wheel for younger ones, there is plenty here to keep all ages entertained. Alongside the bigger rides, you’ll also find a super selection of arcade and video games, as well as classic fairground-style games like ring toss, fish the ducks and basketball throw – but all with a clever out-of-this-world twist.

Who is Babylon Park for?

Babylon Park will appeal to children aged from four to 12; the rides and games are most suited to that age group, and might not be quite breath-taking enough for teens. Some have a minimum age or a height restriction limiting what very young children can take part in, but they won’t miss out: there are other things for them to enjoy, such as meet and greets with the friendly aliens who wander around the park. When not experiencing the rides, families can try the huge soft play area which has two sections – one for young toddlers and another for older kids – and comes complete with monkey bars and a climbing frame. Bring your teens too, they may not want to go on all the rides but they’ll love playing air hockey, being whizzed into space on a VR simulator, bowling and the jump complex to bounce around on.

The Highlights

The big draw of any theme park has to be the rollercoaster and Babylon Park doesn’t disappoint. Fast and exciting, you’ll fly around the track for a few exhilarating minutes. Great for all the family and not too scary (depending on your idea of scary, of course), it’s a nice way to introduce younger children to the fun of a big ride. Babylon is free to enter and is a smart park which means you can access and play on the facilities using a preloaded park card and park bracelet that is on offer on arrival – the cashless system allows parents to control what is being spent. But the very best bit about Babylon Park must be that it is all indoors: warm and dry, it’s the perfect spot for a winter day when the weather is miserable outside.

What You Need To Know

There is no need to pre-book tickets, simply turn up and walk in. The park has lifts, making it buggy and wheelchair accessible, and there are baby changing facilities. You can’t bring your own food but there are plenty of classic theme park snacks such as pizza, waffles and ice cream available at the onsite Ovo & Neta restaurant.
