For those who would like to do something creative, Petersham Nurseries have the most delightful selection of classes and workshops. From spring flower arranging to Easter-wreath making and tablescaping, there are plenty of options to choose from at either the Covent Garden or Richmond venues of this wonderful company. Most sessions last around two hours and refreshments are served – or book into the whimsical garden restaurant in Richmond or the Italian eatery in Covent Garden to make your day out extra special. While these classes aren’t suitable for very young children, creative and well-behaved youngsters over the age of 10 will love taking part.

It’s the classic mum and daughter outing: afternoon tea somewhere swish. And who doesn’t love enjoying cake and a cuppa with their mum? The latest addition to the London scene is the wonderful afternoon tea at the chic Nomad Hotel in Covent Garden. Located in a Grade II-listed building this five-star hotel has just launched its first afternoon tea, honouring the timeless British tradition with a stylish NoMad twist. Guests can expect elevated finger sandwiches, a selection of scones and an artful composition of sweets, served alongside a tea-inspired cocktail menu crafted by the hotel’s bartending team. Children are welcome to join and while there isn’t a kids’ menu as such, their tastes can be accommodated.

Dotted all over the country, Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Gardens offer a wonderful experience to visitors of all ages who can immerse themselves in nature at its prettiest. Expect to find beautifully cultivated and maintained gardens to explore, lovely onsite cafes, and superb plant nursery and gift shops. There’s plenty for little ones to enjoy too with playgrounds, nature trails and lots of local wildlife to spot. For a sporty mum and daughter day out, book tickets for the Cinch Championships. A highlight of the summer season, this incredibly popular tournament takes place in June every year. Expect show stopping tennis from some of the world’s best players at Queens, the historic British club in leafy Barnes.
